Preparation for the National finals

Yoshi went to Starbucks to meet Rosalina, unfortunately he saw Toadette going the opposite direction. Just avoid eye contact, he thought cautiously. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case and Toadette spotted him.

"Oh hello, loser!" she said giggling.

"Toadette could you go and bother someone else!" Yoshi said, just walking away.

"Why should I?" Toadette said. "You're a lot more fun to annoy than random strangers!" With that she pushed Yoshi into a nearby lake. Yoshi tried to cling on the the curb and managed to get one hand onto it but of course Toadette couldn't leave him alone after that and kicked his hand from the curb, making him hit the lake in a splash. 

"Have a nice swim!" Toadette said, laughing like a maniac as she walked off.

Luckily, after Yoshi spoke with Rosalina he was going to swim with, Luigi, Mario and Waluigi later on so he had a towel to dry up. After he dried up he went inside Starbucks, and he saw Rosalina sitting at a table.

"Hey Yoshi!" Rosalina said. 

"Hi!" Yoshi replied.

"Shall we order!" Rosalina asked. 

"Yeah!" Yoshi said.

They both went and ordered two hot chocolates, a ham sandwich for Yoshi and a BLT for Rosalina. 

"So Rosalina, what is it you wanted to ask me?" Yoshi asked.

"It's about the national finals in 3 weeks!" Rosalina replied. "I wasn't in when they handed out the letters! By the way, why do you smell like you've been in the pond or something?"

"Because I was!" Yoshi said. 

"How come!"

"Well when you go in between someone you really don't like and get bullied by, ie Toadette, and there is a pond nearby, well they would have the temptation of pushing you in."

"So basically you went face to face with Toadette as you were coming here and she pushed you into the lake?" Rosalina said.

"Well yeah, but I hung on to the curb trying not to fall in and then she stomped on my hand, hard, making me let go!" Yoshi showed Rosalina the high heel mark.

"Oh god! Are you ok?" Rosalina asked cautiously

"Yeah I'm fine, it doesn't hurt that much!" Yoshi replied.

"What is wrong with us, why is it that we always have to deal with drama from those idiots?"

"Leave them, they are not work our time!" Yoshi said. "Anyway, about the national finals, we leave at midnight two days before because it was a 23 hour train journey and we also catch a bus to that station!"

"Ok!" Rosalina replied.

"Also bring money as we are spending two nights at the hotel and need money for dinner on the final night!" Yoshi said.

"Cool!" Rosalina said. 

"Oh and by the way, sir isn't separating the boys and girls from rooms!" Yoshi said.

"Oh really? Wow!" Rosalina laughed a bit. Well I hope I get into a room with Mario, she thought. Rosalina has had a crush on Mario for 4 years, but since he had dated Peach for 3 and a half years she never had the chance to go near him.

"Right, I've got to go now I've got swimming with Mario, Luigi and Waluigi." Yoshi said.

"Wait is Luigi friends with Waluigi now!"

"Shockingly yes, Waluigi has changed a LOT since the start of this year. I have a feeling Mario has had something to do with it, they talk to each other a lot these days." 

"Yes, bye then Yoshi!" 

"Bye!" Yoshi waved. Rosalina went to finish her sandwich.

Yoshi saw Waluigi at the bus stop and went to meet him.

"So Yoshi, ready to get beaten in swimming!" Waluigi asked.

"Lol, like it will happen!" Yoshi grinned. Both of them were laughing. "I'll beat you in sports day as well!" 

"We'll see!" Waluigi grinned.

Just like any other school, Mushroom High had sports day. All the fastest boys and girls in the year run 100m, regardless whether it was their best event. 

The two went on the bus for a 30 minute ride to the swimming pool with Mario and Luigi already there.

"So how many races are we doing Mario?" Luigi asked

"10 50m races, don't worry we will have time to rest during the races!" Mario replied.

Yoshi and Waluigi arrived at the pool getting changed into their swimsuits. Soon they joined Mario and Luigi. "Lets have a 5 minutes warm up before racing." Waluigi suggested. The others agreed and thats what they did. After that was over Mario gave them rules. "Ok so here is how it goes, We have 10 races 1st place gets 4 points, second 3 points, 3rd two points and forth 1 point! Whoever gets the most gets 5 dollars from the others!" Mario said.

"Deal!" The other agreed. 

They started the first race with Luigi coming first, Mario second, Waluigi 3rd and Yoshi last, but they were all close.

"That was fun!" Waluigi said.

Five races later Mario was ahead with 21 points, Waluigi had 14, Luigi had 13 and Yoshi had 12. Mario was bossing it but the rest were close.

The final four races ended. Mario won with 31 points, Waluigi second with 26 points, Luigi third with 23 points and Yoshi came last with 20 points. 

"I might've lost but I had fun!" Yoshi said. "Mario, you were flying in the first 6 races you were getting caught in the last few!"

"I won though and I get 5 dollars from each of you! All those races were really close though you can't really say I dominated!" Mario said.

"Luigi, how were we ever enemies, you are actually a cool and competitive guy to hang out with!"

"Thanks Waluigi!" Luigi said.

They got dressed and went to the park to play soccer!

Just to let you guys know I had to do the calculations of the points they scored in each race these points are not random at all. Also I have updated 5 chapters in the last two days. I plan to make another story which will be called Total Mario Island. This might be once I've finished this one or just before it. I also plan to make a second part of Mushroom High School as well and a Summer camp one too. So thats four stories I plan to make, including this one. Hope you enjoyed the chapter :).
