10. birthday boy with his birthday tears

Josh was still in awe at how quick Tyler was progressing. They work with him everyday and he picks up on things fast if you show him and explain.

Today he walks over to the calendar on the wall and looks at Josh. "Its December first." Josh says. Tyler's eyes lit up and he bounced on his heels. "What?" Josh asked, smiling at him. "Birth- uh uh uhmm b-birthday!" Tyler managed to get out with minor struggle.

"Its your birthday?" Josh asked. Tyler nodded excitedly. He wasnt sure whether or not it was his actual birthday but this is when they celebrated it at the hospital. Hed only get a tiny little muffin and the day off for experiments but still he was excited.

Josh smiled. "Well happy birthday then ty." He said. "Happy, happy, happy, happy birthday." Tyler sang, jumping up and down. Josh chuckled lightly. "Come on let's go tell mom." He said leading Tyler downstairs. Tyler continued to sing his version of happy birthday as they went.

He doesnt use his powers much anymore unless hes really scared, angry or excited. So he teleported a few times around the kitchen they they got there before plopping down in a chair and swinging his feet happily.

"Its tys birthday today mom." Josh said. Momma dun stopped her task of making breakfast and turned to Tyler. "It is is it?" She asked. He nodded, smiling. "Were going to have to have a party later then." She said and Tyler giggled when she kissed his nose.

She made tyler an extra special breakfast, filling his plate with waffles and bacon and eggs. Tyler ate every single bit of it with a wide grin on his face.

His mood was great until he found out he had to go to the hospital today. He was pouty and moody in the car and on the way In. "Theres the birthday boy!" Dr. Hassen smiled when they entered the room. Tyler smiled, reminded that it was his birthday.

He jumped around. "Birthday birthday birthday!" He sang. "Want your birthday muffin?" Dr. Hassen asked, chuckling when Tyler nodded frantically. The nurses and doctors sang to him like they always do then he looked at dr. Hassen for permission to blow the candle out.

Once he did he was handed the muffin and he happily bit into it. He chewed on it as Josh came over to hug him, resting his head on Josh's chest. Dr. Hassen talked about the drastic change in Tyler's behavior since their last visit, clearly impressed with how well they care for the boy.

Usually Tyler would be angry and trying to hurt the doctors but he hasn't the last two visits. Hes still grumpy over being here but he hasn't been physical which is good.

He sat through the stupid painful experiment for today and then got a sample of his blood taken. He hated it, crying into Josh's chest as it happened. If Josh hadn't been holding him he might've hurt someone.

When it was over and a bandaid was placed to his arm he pulled away from Josh. "Momma." he sniffled. She came over and kissed his forehead. "You did so good, such a brave boy." She said. Tyler sniffled again. "Want me to kiss it better?" She asked. He nodded and held his arm out. "Kiss better." He said. She smiled and did so and he thanked her.

They left the hospital and headed to the store, buying Tyler a birthday cake and some presents. He wasn't allowed to know what they were yet so him and Mr. dun wandered around the food section while Josh, momma dun and the kids picked out gifts.

Tyler spotted chocolate milk in one of the fridges and ran over. "Da! Da! Da!" He said, bouncing on his tippy ties. "Want some chocolate milk?" Mr. Dun asked. Tyler nodded happily and Mr. Dun grabbed A small lunch box sized carton and bought it for Tyler.

The boy drank it while sitting on a bench at the front of the store with mr. Dun as they waited for the rest of the family to be done shopping. Tyler cuddled up at Mr. Duns side, the carton of milk held with both hands as he sipped on it.

He leaned his head on mr. Duns shoulder, watching as the man  scrolled around on his phone. "Da?" He asked. Mr. Dun hummed. Tyler pointed to the device. "You wanna see?" Me. Dun asked. Tyler nodded.

Mr. Dun handed him the phone and carefully took the chocolate milk out of his hands so he wouldnt spill it. Tyler quickly figured out how to use it and was now playing candy crush with a smile on his face.

When the rest of the family finished shopping Tyler ran over to Josh excitedly, showing josh the phone screen. "You playing candy crush?" Josh asked as they started to head out of the store. Tyler nodded, skipping along beside josh as he continued to tap away at the phone.

The threw a little party for Tyler in the kitchen once they got home and Josh has never seen Tyler happier. Momma dun had got some pictures of Tyler and was gonna print them off and hang them when she got the chance.

Tyler loved all his gifts and gave everyone big bear hugs. He ate two pieces of cake and a big scoop of ice cream before he passed out at the table with chocolate covering his face.

Josh carried him upstairs to get cleaned up while his parents cleaned up the kitchen. After Tyler's face and hands were clean josh laid him on the bed and let him sleep while he went to help downstairs.

When Tyler woke up it was because he had a nightmare about the hospital. He freaked out and usually josh was there to calm him down but he was still downstairs with the rest of the family.

Josh came upstairs after a loud bang was heard from upstairs. He found Tyler on the floor, backed up agaisnt the dresser. He must of bumped it and knocked Josh's alarm clock off cause it was on the floor now.

"Hey Tyler calm down what happened?" Josh asked. "Josh." The boy sobbed, reaching out for him. Josh picked him up and brought him downstairs to the living room where everyone else was watching a movie.

Josh sat on the couch next to Jordan. "Kiss better." Tyler sniffled pointing to his head. Josh was quick to kiss Tyler's forehead a few times. "There all better." He said. Tyler hugged him, thanking him. "Did he hit his head?" Momma dun asked. Josh shook his head. "Nightmare." He whispered. Momma dun nodded and turned back to the tv.

Tyler sniffled and cuddled up to Josh more, hiding his face in Josh's neck. Josh rubbed his back. "Do you wanna go back to bed?" He asked quietly. Tyler shook his head. He wanted to stay with Josh. "Stay with Josh." He whispered. "I'll go up with you if you wanna lay down." Josh said. Tyler thought for a few seconds before nodding and Josh was standing up again, carrying Tyler upstairs.
