48: no hospital

Josh had quickly abandoned his cart of groceries and started walking over. Tyler found himself teleporting over to him and burying his face in Josh's neck. Josh hugged him tightly. "Shh it's all gonna be okay." He whispered. Tyler sniffled softly, pulling st the handcuffs around his wrists. He wanted to hug Josh back.

"I'm so scared." Ttler whispered. "I know." Josh whispered back. Neither of them noticed the commotion about Tyler teleporting but they were brought back to the situation when an officer was grabbing tyler again and yanking him away from Josh.

"Josh!" Tyler cried as he was pulled back. "Hey hey it's okay. Hes my boyfriend. Leave him be." Josh said. "Hes a wanted criminal." The officer informed Josh. "Just let him be. Let him do what he needs to do to feel safe right now. That's all I'm asking. Hes not gonna hurt anybody. I promise." Josh said calmly.

"We cant do that." The officer replied. "I understand your reasons why you cant but trust me you need to let him calm down and feel safe." Josh said. The officer didnt look even the slightest bit convinced that Josh was telling the truth. "Please. I promise hes not going to do anything If you let him go and uncuf him. We'll even go sit down and talk and figure things out. Hes just- hes scared right now and he doesnt need that. Hes been scared all his life. He needs to feel safe... I need him to feel safe." Josh said.

It took a little more convincing but eventually the officer agreed and uncuffed Tyler letting him run over and hug Josh. After tyler settled and calmed down, he, josh and dix were taken to the police station for questioning. Dix didnt really have to be there but Josh wasnt leaving him at the grocery store or anything like that so he came along.

They sat down at the station in a little room, tyler kept his face buried against Josh's shoulder and tried to keep his breathing steady. The police officer asked countless questions none of them that could be answered. "You do remember. Stop making this more difficult then it has to be." He said.

Tyler broke down and started crying again. Josh was quickly soothing him. "Look he doesnt remember and I believe him. This isnt the first time hes done something typically concerning and he hasn't remembered it." Josh said. The police officer sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Yknow what fine. I'm gonna get them to bring in a lie detecter. Then we'll see if he really doesnt remeber it." He said. Josh nodded. "Okay." He said. The machine was brought in and hooked up to Tyler. Tyler was hyperventilating because it was reminding him of experiments.

The police officer asked him the same questions as before, actually surprised to find out that Tyler was telling the truth. He actually didnt remeber what happened. Tylrr and josh and dix were left alone in the room as the officers talked out in the hall about what to do.

"I dotn wanna go to jail Josh." Tyler whispered practically shaking with fear. "You wont." Josh assured. "You dont know that. I dont know what I did. The severity of what happened could range anywhere from not that bad to lifetime in prison. " tyler said.

"Let's just see what happens and deal with it accordingly okay?" Josh asked. Tyler sighed softly but nodded. The police officer came back in and sat down across from them. "So heres where were at. He doesnt remeber what he did, but he still did it and we cant ignore the fact that he did just because he doesnt remember doing it... but we also under stand that since he doesnt know what happened that hes scared and all that." The police officer said.

"Am I gonna go to jail?" Tyler asked with a shaky voice. "See that's where we stuck. Sitting here just looking at you, you're obviously scared and I personally believe that if you had been fullt attentive in the moment you wouldnt have done what you did. I've delt with criminals my whole life and you.. I just dont get that vibe from you." The officer said.

"He typically wouldnt do something bad unless he had to." Josh said. The officer nodded. "Were just not sure if whether or not we should give him a sentence.... he doesnt know what he did but he still did it." The officer said. Josh nodded. "I understand.... but I can tell you right now he doesnt deserve to be there. Hes been through so much shit his whole life. I-.... I dont know if hed be able to handle something like that." He said.

"What do you mean? What happened?" The officer asked curiously. Josh looked at Tyler. "You wanna tell him?" He asked. Tyler chewed his lip anxiously for a moment. "Will I get in more trouble?" He asked. "No." Josh said shaking his head.

".... what if he makes me go back?" Tyler asked quietly, hiding his face agaisnt Josh's shoulder. "He wont. I eont let it happen." Josh replied. "I dont wanna go back. What about dix is he gonna make dix go back?? He cant we- Josh we cant go back." Tyler sniffled. Dix looked up from where he was fiddling with Josh's keys at the mention of his name.

He furrowed his eyebrows. "Tyur?" He asked. Tyler sniffled softly and lifted his head from Josh's shoulder to look at dix. "Why cryin?" Dix asked. Tyler looked at Josh and josh turned to look at dix. "Hes scared buddy." He whispered. Dix furrowed his eyebrows again. "Why?" He asked.

Josh sighed softly. "He doesnt want to go to jail and he doesnt want to go back to the hospital." He said. "No! No hospital!" Dix yelled suddenly making the police officer jump a bit. "Hey no yelling. Were not going to the hospital." Josh said. "Pomise?" Dix asked with scared tears in his eyes. "Promise buddy... were just going to talk about it a bit okay? Is that okay?" Josh asked.

Dix looked unsure. He looked over at Tyler who looked scared. "I have  listen?" He asked. "Not if you dont want to." Josh said "dont want." Dix said immediately. Josh nodded and pulled his phone out of his pocket, along with some earbuds and handed them to dix. He helped dix put a youtube video about puppies on cause dix loved puppies and helped him put the earbuds in before turning to the officer and starting to explain Tyler and dixs life to the officer since Tyler wouldnt do it himself.

The whole time Tyler kept his face buried in Josh's side while dix smiled happily at the cute puppies running around on the phone screen. Tyler tensed up every now and then when Josh would mention something particularly triggering for him and each time Tyler did the officer took note of it, knowing that Josh was telling the truth by the way Tyler was reacting to what he was saying.

At some point Tyler had covered his ears, nor wanting to listen anymore because it was making him have flashbacks. By the end of it the officer felt bad for Tyler and dix, not even being able to image what they went through.
