42. Mailman

Tyler and josh have been staying ar Josh's moms for about two weeks now. Everyday tyler wore the sunglasses and headphones to avoid how hypersensitive he felt without them. His face was starting to look better, the bruises have faded slightly but it still hurt.

Tyler had woken up later then everyone else today and was sitting at the table eating cereal. Josh sat next to him and dix and momma Dun sat next to each other. Momma Dun was teaching dix new words and it reminded Tyler of when she did that for him.

When Tyler finished his cereal he got up and put the bowl in the sink before sitting back down next to Josh. Josh smiled softly at him and held his hand as they watched dix learn. Tyler sighed softly and leaned agaisnt josh. Josh gently kissed his forehead. "You wanna go upstairs?" He whispered. Tyler nodded and stood up,  him and Josh quietly slipping away from the table.

They headed upstairs and sat in Josh's room. They just cuddled for a while until there was a knock on the front door. Then they looked at each other. "Stay here  il be right back." Josh said. Tyler nodded as Josh went to make sure that whoever it was at the door wasnt here to hurt Tyler or dix.

He went over to the stairs and snuck down them only far enough to see his mom at the door. He sighed softly when he seen it was only the mailman delivering a package that his brother ordered online. He headed back to the bedroom. "Are we safe?" Tyler asked. Josh nodded. "Just the mailman." He said. Tyler nodded too.

They laid back down together and just talked quietly for a bit until dix came running into the room and jumping up on the bed with them. "Hey calm down." Josh said to the puppy like boy.  Dix smiled as Josh reached out to pet him.

Tyler pouted. "Hey no fair." He said. Josh chuckled and used his other hand to pet Tyler, shutting him up and making him smile. Josh chuckled again when both Tyler and dix cuddled up to him, one at each side, completely content as they were pet.

Later on in the night the entire Dun family sat in the living room watching a movie. Tyler had fallen asleep but  sat up suddenly with a gasp, making everyone look at him. "What? What's wrong?" Josh asked. Tyler looked around for a second before shaking his head and settling. "Nothing." He said.

Josh furrowed his eyebrows slightly as Tyler cuddled back up agaisnt his side. Dix was now staring at Tyler, quite intensely might I add. Dix moved his glanced to josh before turning back to the tv. Josh furrowed his eyebrows more but didnt say anything.

Eventually tyler fell back to sleep and so did Josh, the two of them cuddled up together on the couch. When everyone else went to bed dix stayed down in the living room with them. He curled up on the other couch and fell asleep.

In the middle of the night Tyler woke up to the sound of the front door opening. He sat up to see dix doing the same. He furrowed his eyebrows. His sunglasses and headphones were off, momma Dun must have took them off before she went to bed.

They were sat on the coffee table. Tyler stood up to get the headphones. It was dark so he didnt need the glasses. He was just about to grab them when someone appeared in the doorframe. Tyler and dix looked up at them, the both of them immediately growling softly, their eyes starting to glow. Even in the dark they could tell this person wasnt apart of the family.

When this person took another step into the room dix was teleporting over to them and attacking them. When dix was hit across the face almost immediately, tyler was doing the same. They were trying to be quiet, not wanting to wake anyone as they fought the intruder.

Suddenly tyler was in a choke hold though and a needle was jabbed into his neck. He let out a soft yelp gripping at the arms of the stranger. When he was dropped he landed on his hands and knees as dix tackled the  man to the ground.

Tyler's Yelp had woken Josh and he sat up, confused for a minute before he seen what was happening. "Tyler what's going on? Who is that?" He asked standing up. Tyler's ears hurt from the noise but he was too distracted by the needle in his neck.

Tyler grabbed the syringe and pulled it out, inspecting it. Whatever was in it was no longer there, meaning it was in his body now. He panted softly as he stared at it before furrowing his eyebrows and pushing himself up to help dix.

He shoved the man agaisnt the wall harshly, punching him. The man fought back shoving Tyler backwards,  but dix was jumping in again quickly. They knocked over a few picture frames and broke a flower vase as they fought.

The fight didnt last much longer the intruder had managed to get away from dix and Tyler and ran out of the house, jumping in a van that was parked on the side of the road before it sped off. Tyler and dix watched them go from the doorframe.

The both of them panting harshly and eyes glowing. They glanced at each other as momma Dun and the rest of the family came down the stairs to see what all the banging was. Dix ran over to them as tyler surveyed the street. He swallowed thickly and clenched his jaw before he shut the door and locked it.

He looked out the window of the door one last time before shutting over the curtains and walking over to everyone. He knew whoever that was, was from the hospital and he had a feeling they've been watching the house for a while. He also had a feeling that none of this was over and it wouldn't be for a long time.
