Chapter 29

Jacob

“What?! No other machine-powers?!” I bang my fist against my head in frustration. “Now what are we supposed to do?!”

Once we transferred all our things and troops onto the fastest big cargo ship the Deyjen hangar had, I had to find a new machine-power so we could actually take off. Of course, we don’t actually have another one.

“Jake, we have to take off soon if we want to catch Maggie and The Lightning,” Andrea says. I sigh, trying my best not to get agitated. I take several deep breaths and turn to address the control room.

“All right everyone, listen up. We have no expert navigator. At this moment, we are losing a race in which this entire war depends on. But we cannot give up. We must deal with what we have and make light of every situation to overcome obstacles. Now, who here is good at controls?” Several people hesitantly raised their hands. “Well don’t just stand there! Make yourself useful! Assign each other jobs and help out to set the navi-computer!” The officers jumped and started scrambling about, trying to be “useful”.

I turn back to Andrea. “Sometimes I wish I was given a different crew. These guys can be really dumb.”
