"Let's go kiddos! Wake up! It's time to drop all your asses off!" Dad sang out loudly, and happily.
He keeps saying how happy he is we're all leaving because he will finally get some peace and quiet. I find that hilarious since he's always the one volunteering to have everyone come to our house. (I think he pretends to be annoyed but really enjoys the chaos.)
Lilith jumped out of bed running out the room in a second. I wondered if she was ever even asleep, or if maybe she smoked some crack.
"Why is Lily such a morning person? It's not right." Kristoffer groaned walking down the hall.
Pushing out of the bed, I made my way down the stairs to the kitchen following the loud ruckus.
Mom was making the pancakes and telling Lily to pour the pulp free orange juice.
"It's not here mom." Lily said eying the fridge and holding the pulp orange juice in her hand.
I gave a yawn and reached for the shelf on the fridge door grabbing the pulp free orange juice and handing it to her.
She gave me a wink "Found it!" She called turning to the table.
Grabbing out the creamer, I turned the coffee pot on needing the hot molten caffeine to awaken my soul.
"Annie, can you crack the eggs, they're all boiled and ready." Mom said giving me a sweet smile I couldn't resist. She's the only person in the world who can call me Annie and get away with it.
Turning the eggs off, I took the pot to the sink draining it and staring out at the window.
The world began to fade, silence becoming an overwhelming occupant to my ears, my eyes fixated on the black bird fluttering through the oak tree in the backyard.
It chirped in a very odd way, almost like a cry, an agonizing moan. The creature sounded sick, in danger or in pain. As I watched it longer, it fluttered closer and closer until it flung itself head first into the window. It crashed through the window into the sink, blood filling up the sink.
It took me a few moments, my hands covered in the blood, the pot of boiled eggs now filled with the red gushing blood of the bird.
"Holy fucking fuck!" I screamed and stumbled back into Lilith, my heart racing into a whole new beat. In fact I screamed so loud the entire household was in the kitchen faster than if I said breakfast was ready.
"Anne?" Lilith asked me with a worrisome look, her eyes moving from the window to me.
I pointed to the window, the water still running from the sink, over pouring the pot of eggs. Yet, there wasn't a bird, no blood either.
There wasn't even a crack in the window, not a single sign that a bird had just flung itself through it.
Shit, am I losing my mind?!
Shutting my eyes, I looked to Lilith who looked from everyone to me. She gave a small nod, and then looked into the sink letting out a fake scream and swatting the sink with a towel. "Spider!" She screamed.
Vesper began laughing "Girls..." he walked over to the sink and looked down "Where is it?" He asked.
Lilith looked from me to the sink "I think he went down the drain." She let out a fake sigh of relief.
I smiled "Thank god, it scared the life out of me." Note to self, thank Lilith for being the greatest sister in the world.
"Alright come on, let's get back to breakfast." Evangeline said grabbing the toast out of the toaster.
We finished breakfast with everyone laughing and pigging out, Mom was telling her story about how she and dad met in the school. I've heard the story before, it was romantic, especially since his brother was the one who told him to give her a chance. Dad thought she was too much of a goody good, ended up falling for her though.
After clean up, we were on the plane flying over to Michigan and honestly I was both excited and scared for this place.
Lilith gave me a small eye glance for the hundredth time since this morning, and I eyed the twins beside us. Both were watching movies with their headphones in.
"I saw a bird, and then it flew into the window and landed dead in the sink with its little neck snapped and it's blood all over." I whispered to her and she eyed me over like I was a crazy woman.
I nodded "Yeah, I think I'm losing my mind too okay?" I said sighing and sitting back wishing this plane could land already.
Lilith took my hand and gave it a squeeze "If you go crazy, I promise to go crazy too. I won't let you go down this weird path alone. I'll do some digging and see if I can find out why you're hearing and seeing things. I'm sure it's just because you're nervous about the academy." She reassured me and waved down a stuartist getting us both some tea.
The flight felt long and after beating Kristoffer sixteen times at tic tac toe, we finally landed.
"It's unfair. You cheated." He said as we waited for our bags on the conveyer belt.
I eyed him, "You just suck Kris." I stated spotting my leopard suitcase and going to pull it off the belt but as I reached for it, another hand reached and pulled it off.
Going to protest, I eyed the red tag confirming it was mine so I didn't fight someone for a suitcase that wasn't mine, I looked up catching the stunning grey eyes.
He handed me my suitcase and reached over grabbing a grey one giving me a smirk and walking past me to a gorgeous black haired girl with matching eyes as his. Twins.
"Holy crap he was hot." Eva said drooling as she checked out his ass from behind.
I nodded in agreement "Yeah, pretty hot."
Grabbing Lily's fluffy pink suitcase off the belt, I rolled it to her as she was arguing with Lincoln about the right for fish to be sent on plane trips.
"I'm just saying, some people want their pet fish in their lap, they should be able to." Lincoln said keeping his eye on the bags.
Handing Lily her suitcase, she thanked me and smacked Jameson's arm "Do you think people should be allowed to keep their fish on their laps for plane rides?" She asked.
Jameson's eyes were preoccupied though, and when he responded to Lily with "I don't really care." I knew he was focused on a girl.
I smirked and leaned on his shoulder "Who are you eyeing?" I asked peering over the crowd of young woman and milfs.
As if he was a kid who got caught, he eyed me "No one." He shook his head looking down at me.
Looking over the crowd, I locked my eyes on the gorgeous blonde, she looked like a bad girl, his type.
"Blonde? Big tits?" I asked receiving a smirk from Jameson. He knows I know his taste better than anyone else ever could.
I eyed her as she watched the bags, "Go help her with her bags. Some guy just helped me and if he hadn't hurried out I would've jumped his bones in the bathroom." I joked.
He gave me a small shove but took my advice and went to go help her.
I'm a great female wing man.
Giving him his privacy, I turned and happened to crash right into a beautiful bimbo. Her scowling face told me she definitely didn't want to be friends. "Watch it clutzilla." She growled.
I rolled me eyes "chill cuntzilla, try not standing right up my ass next time." I said turning from her jaw dropped gaze to Lincoln's grin.
"Cuntzilla, huh?" He smirked and tossed his arm over my shoulder walking me out the airport.
It was the best I could come up with in the moment. Usually I've got better comebacks, maybe today's not my best.
