Chapter 2 - First Day

Rice's House

Kaycee Rice's POV

*beep beep beep*

I hear my alarm going off, and after having a summer of not hearing it I immediately knew what day it was,

The first day of senior year

I try to reach over to grab my phone but I was restricted

"Sean, you slept over again, please wake up," I said trying to wiggle my way out of his grasp "If my dad catches us you are surely dead"

"Five minutes..." Sean mumbled into my back as I just sighed and let him win

"Ok but this is probably the only day we don't want to be late for," I said as I just looked in the mirror which faced my bed as I see his face content "I love you"

"Love you too," he said still groggy

I let the five minutes go by until I forcibly threw him off me to his dismay, I didn't get to see his reaction as I immediately headed to the bathroom

"Go home and get ready! I'm driving today!" I said through the door which I know he heard as I heard the bedroom door open and shut meaning he left

It's strange being a senior... Me, Sean and a lot of others get jobs all the time so we were barely even in school junior year and with most of us turning 18 this school year that will only increase

We all should have been homeschooled, but I think we all enjoyed the actual public school process

I did my morning routine, put on a quick cute outfit and headed downstairs, the house was so empty nowadays, Devon moved out before I was in high school but he's officially super busy that he doesn't visit nearly as much, Kylie moved out officially recently and I can't believe I actually miss my sister but she's enjoying college, my dad has been working more recently something about making sure there's enough money for me to go to college if I want to in the future

"Hey mom," I said as I see my mom cooking in the kitchen

"Hey sweetie, no boyfriend this morning?" my mom said giving me a look, she's too observant and by observant I mean nosy but knowing Sean he probably unconsciously greeted my mom on his way out

"Maybe, depends if he actually gets ready in time"

"Senior year! You excited?!" she asks me passing me a plate

"Sure, it would be nice to see my friends again"

"Yeah they haven't been over lately" my mom comments

"Couldn't have been that long"

The door opens to see a still groggy Sean Lew "Morning" he said as he came over to kiss me on the cheek and grabbed a plate from my mom

"Morning Sean! Long night?" my mom asks him giving me a look, like I said nosy

"Yeah," he said

"Well I got to go to work, make sure you make it to school on time," my mom said as she left the house

We ate our breakfast in silence, just on our phones as we eat and get ready

"You sure you don't want me to drive?" Sean asked me as we headed to my car

"Still have no faith?"

"Kaycee your feet barely reach the pedals" he joked

"Not funny," I said as he kept laughing as I adjusted my seat to be close to the wheel "You're lucky you're cute"

"I'm lucky I get to call you mine," he said

"Lewser"

"Weirdo"

"Love you, let's go"

Sean Lew's POV

We made it in one piece, we entered the school with her holding my hand, she usually doesn't do this but today is just to remind people we're still together

We made it to my locker first

"Schedule?"

"We have the same schedule Sean, don't want a repeat of what happened last year," Kaycee said as last year we only had one class together the first semester and two second semester

"Yeah that was torture," I said as I put certain subjects away and we head to her locker, "You think we're going to have to do introductions again?"

"Nope, we're seniors no one cares anymore," Kaycee said "Besides senior year is the fun year I doubt we would even have much to do in classes anyways"

"I hope you're right"

We made it to her locker so she can do the same as me and put her after lunch classes materials in her locker, on the way we saw some familiar faces such as

"Hey seaycee!" our friend Charlize greeted us

"Don't call us that!" Kaycee said

"Come on! You two are like couple goals let us have fun" Charlize said

We became friends with Charlize junior year, she was Bailey's friend and we became friends with her over time, she's so positive that it's hard not to like her

"We'll see you later Char," I said as I dragged Kaycee away with me

"Don't want to socialize?" Kaycee teased me

"I don't need the attention she'll eventually gather," I said as Charlize has a habit of getting excited which leads people to see what's she's excited about, and in this case, it would be Kaycee and me "I rather keep our relationship private"

"I understand babe," she said as I kissed her temple "Besides don't want to be late for class!"

"Fine..."

Neither of us is excited about the school work part of the school but Kaycee's... competitive nature always found a way into school as she always gets straight A's since she competes with herself

Kaycee Rice's POV

Lunch

"Finally, I miss lunchtime in the cafeteria," I said as Sean stood in line with me as I still get the school lunch and Sean brings his
He occasionally gives me stuff when he cooks for his family and I get the leftovers but that's rare

"Kaycee we've only been gone three months" Sean comments amused by my excitement

"I know but... It just feels different"

The line went fast, as a senior I know all the tricks to get lunch fast

"I still can't believe you still do that" Sean says as we head to our usual table

"Do what?"

"You ask freshman boys if you can cut very sweetly, knowing how awkward boys get around pretty girls," Sean said

"It's almost like a rite of passage," I said as we took a seat

"Yeah, I guess, remember when Julian fell for the same thing with Delaney freshman year!" Sean mentioned as I started giggling

"Yes! Julian should tell that story again... Where is everyone?"

We looked around and were very confused... Tahani was at a table with Tati and her friends, Julian was with Chloe and her friends, Josh was with some people we didn't recognize, and Bailey was holding hands with Kenneth as they head to his table

"I think we missed something..." Sean comments as Bailey walked by us as if we were invisible

"I think you're right"
