Chapter 4. The Other Island

Not John Locke has left to go do something and he has left Sawyer and me outside Claire's hut who has apparently been living out here the entire time.

The hut is being held together by wood, tarp, and what looks like pieces from the plane.

Inside the hut is Jin whose leg got stuck in a bear trap.

When we walk inside the hut Jin is asleep.

"Jin, come on buddy you gotta wake up," Sawyer says while shaking him awake.

He wakes up and is very surprised to see us, "Sawyer. Hayley. How long have I been out?" He asks.

"A while," I say.

"Claire and Locke, where are they?"

"I don't know they said they'd be back by sunup," Sawyer says.

"We have to get out of here before they come back," Jin says while trying to get up.

"Easy, we're with Locke," Sawyer says

"Well, I would say with Locke," I say.

"That is not Locke," Jin says

"Yeah, we know," Sawyer says, "Whoever he is, he says he can get us off this damn island."

"I can't leave. Sun could be here somewhere."

"Fine. If she's here, you got my word we ain't leaving without her."

We hearing people walking outside.

"What's that?" Jin asks.

"They're back," I say. 

We exit the hut to see Locke with Sayid, Claire,  Kate, and almost everyone who was at that temple.

Kate says hi to Sawyer and I and we say hi back.

Locke starts to make a speech but I tune out. I don't trust him.

We start to walk and I'm not sure where we are going but I walk in the back with Sawyer and Kate, they talk but I tune them out.

Sawyer wants to know when we will get off this island and so do I so while everybody rest we go talk to Locke alone.

"I wish you hadn't interrupted me," Locke says.

"I'm sorry, I forgot my manners," Sawyer says very sarcastically

"I forgive ya."

"What happened back at the temple? How'd you know to rescue everybody from that smoke thing?"

"Because he is the smoke thing," I say.

Sawyer gives me a confused look.

"Hayley's right, James. How did you know Hayley?"

"Because I'm smart and I see a lot of things others don't."

"You telling me you kill all those people," Sawyer says.

"I gave them the opportunity to leave peacefully and they didn't take it," Locke says.

"Why not?"

"Because they're convinced that they're protecting the island from me, when, in fact, all I wanna do is leave. So it's either kill or be killed. And I don't want to be killed."
