"Jacob told me we have to go to the bamboo forest out pass out old camp," Jack says.

It's day now, the fire as burnt out meaning that Jacob is now gone.

"Just past it, he said I'd find the place that we need to protect," Jack says.

"This place-what is it?" Kate asks.

"He called it the heart of the island. All he said was that it's...it's a light."

"And that Locke smoke thing wants to put it out?" I say.

"Something like that, yeah."

"So what if he does?" Hurley asks.

"Then that's it for all of us."

I almost feel bad that I didn't become the knew Jacob. He spent all this time to give me the necklace because he wanted it to be me. But, it makes more sense as Jack, he's a natural born leader.

"But...but if Locke wants to put it out, why hasn't he?" Kate asks.

"Cause he ain't got what he needs," Sawyer says.

"I'm guessing that'd be Desmond," I say.

"That's where we were headed before your inauguration," Sawyer says, "Sayid said Locke tossed him in a well."

"Jacob didn't say anything to me about Desmond," Jack says.

"Doesn't sound like he said anything about anything," Sawyer says.

"That's kinda true dude, he's worse than Yoda," Hurley says.

"All right, y'all head to your heart of the island, Shorty and I will go get the magic leprechaun out of that well," Sawyer says grabbing the backpack.

"Then be safe," Jack says.

Sawyer and I head out.

"Why do you think Jacob wanted it to be me, I mean, why me? Out of all people," I say as we walk.

"I don't know Shorty, maybe it's because your badass, you stand up for yourself, you'd make a good leader," Sawyer says.

"I guess, except I kinda fell bad now."

"Don't, he shouldn't expect a kid to be protecter of the island."

"Hey, we've talked about thing I'm not just some a kid," I say with a humorous tone.

"Right, sorry," he says putting his hands up in defeat.

We both laugh.

Sawyer and I get to the well and he see Locke already there.

We are hiding behind some bushes.

He's wrapping some rope around his arm.

We hear a rifle cock.

We both turn around to see it's Ben.

Last time I saw Ben, he was a kid and I was trying to save his life.

"As long as you're watching, why don't you join us?" Ben says.

Sawyer and I both stand up and walk over to the well.

Ben is pointing the gun at our backs.

Locke has a stupid grin on his face.

"What are you two doing here?" Locke says.

"I heard Desmond fell in the well, so we came to help him get out," Sawyer says.

We look down there and there's no Desmond.
