The first time you saw the man was when you were working the opening shift at a small, downtown coffee shop. He was a wreck, walking in at 5:30am with bags underneath his stunning blue eyes. He had days old stubble on his chin and looked like he might fall asleep at any second. Despite all of that, you decided he was pretty handsome.

"Well, hello. What can I get for you sunshine?" You grinned as the man shuffled up to the register, not even bothering to check the menu. You swore that when your eyes met his, your heart actually stopped.

"Uh, just a black coffee please," he managed a small smile passing over three crumpled dollars easily.

"Rough morning, huh?" You chimed from behind the counter as you grabbed a cup.

"You have no idea," he sighed, running a shaky hand through his light brown hair. You simply smiled, taking a marker and writing "Take it easy, you've got this" on his cup before pouring plain black coffee into it.

"Well, the day can only go up from here," you shrugged as you handed him his coffee, smiling wide at his tiredness.

"You know," he took his coffee, a smile making its way to his lips. "I think it's getting better already."

After that morning, Clint made his visits to that coffee shop a regular thing. Every time he had a mission or Fury called a meeting, he would stop for coffee hoping you would be there and every time, you wrote some new motivational quote on his cup.

The Avengers gave him a hard time about it, saying he was always in a better mood after he came back from the coffee shop. Natasha even looked at his cup one time and erupted into a fit of laughter. Clint couldn't help it; something about you and that coffee shop made him smile.

It's a really nice day out and it's only the morning. You're enjoying your break, sipping on a perfectly constructed iced coffee; what can you say? You make a mean drink. You're not paying much attention, but Clint notices you instantly. You look so at peace with your h/c hair in a ponytail as you scroll through your phone and it takes everything, every ounce of confidence, in him to walk up to you.

"Hi," he manages to say when he makes it over to the small table you're sitting at and he swears his heart stops when you look at him with bright y/e/c eyes.

"Well, hello there, sunshine," you grin when you notice the handsome man in front of you, thinking this day just got even better. "Care to join me?"

Clint instantly sits down making the table wobble, causing you to laugh at his nervousness. You had wanted to talk to him like this ever since he came in weeks ago.

"So clearly I come here a lot," Clint starts rather awkwardly, but the gleam in your eyes makes him keep going. "And I've wanted to ask you your name since the first time I came in."

"It's Y/N," you smile. "And what about you, handsome? Does the man with tired eyes and a coffee addiction have a name?"

He laughs at your confidence, your flirtatious attitude reminding him of one Tony Stark.

"It's Clint, Clint Barton," he says smoothly, regaining some of his composure. "Listen, I wanted to talk to you about your last motivational quote."

"Is that so?" You raise your eyebrows with a smirk on your lips, thinking of the last thing you wrote on his cup.

"'Sometimes the risk is worth it,'" he repeats from memory, a smile forming on his lips as he does. "So I'm about to take a risk; would you like to go out with me sometime?"

You stand up, knowing that your break is over in a few minutes.

"My shift is over at 1. Pick me up after?" You say and he nods rather enthusiastically making you chuckle.

"In the mean time, is it too much of a hassle to get a coffee, beautiful?"
