------
Light. That's the first thing Steve notices when he opens his eyes. And it hurts. Holy... wow, does it hurt. He closes his eyes, the light almost too much for him. Gradually, little by little, he opens his eyes to take in his surroundings. He's in a plain looking room, the rickety fan above him not helping whatsoever with the sweat forming all over his whole body. Where is he? Why is he here?
Slowly he swings his legs over the side of the bed, biting his lip to keep from groaning when his body tries to fight the movement. Even simply stretching his legs hurts, what happened?
The radio in the corner of the room plays the baseball game, but Steve can't help feel like something's off. That game on the radio... he was there. It's not happening right now. Why would someone bother to put on an old baseball game?
What the hell is going on?
-------
"So let me get this straight," Steve looks at the black man with the eyepatch hesitantly, distrust plaguing his mind. The only two people he trusted most have been gone from his life for over 70 years. "You're creating a team and you want me to join?"
Steve now knows that he's been frozen for more than half a century, only alive because of the serum that runs through his veins. A serum created by his old friend Howard Stark who is also no longer around. Steve has no one.
"It's a group of people with extraordinary skills," the man, Nick Fury, states in his signature broad voice. "The world needs this, Captain. They need you."
It's not that Steve hasn't already made up his mind, how couldn't he? What else does he have to live for? He was practically created to do this job, what else would he be doing instead? There's no life for him outside of being a super-soldier, at least, that's what he tells himself.
"I don't have a suit."
A smirk makes its way onto Fury's lips as he turns on his heel, walking out of the gym, forcing Steve to follow him like a lost puppy.
"That we can take care of."

Tony has been working for... well.. a long time. That's all he knows. Ever since Fury told him Captain America would be joining the Avengers team, it's the only thing he can do to keep his mind off of it. Fucking Captain America with his oh-so-righteous morality, loyalty, and overall lovable personality, Tony thinks to himself bitterly. How is he supposed to even process the fact that his father's greatest achievement will be fighting on the same team as him? Tony doesn't want to think about it at all if he's being completely honest with himself.
Instead of thinking, he runs another analysis on the suit in front of him making sure the fabric is durable enough to take a hit while still being able to move easily with the man inside of it. Sighing tiredly, he squints at the different shades of red and blue surrounding him, mocking him despite being made of fabric. Yeah, Tony, so much for running from your feelings. Because making half a dozen Captain America suits is a great coping mechanism.
"Stark!" A voice booms, practically making Tony have a heart attack as the tablet he was holding clatters onto the table. Tony hastily closes the closet with the suits with a click of a button, they're not ready to be seen yet.
