Tony loves parties. If there's one thing he knows how to do— you know, other than science, engineering, mechanics and being an overall genius— it's how to throw a party. He loves the atmosphere, the occasions, the general acceptance of one another due to music and free-flowing alcohol. And, surprisingly, Tony loves birthdays.

Not that Tony ever remembers his own birthday; it's sometime in April, he's sure. Maybe May? No matter, he's never celebrated his birthday. But the birthday's of his friends, more importantly his boyfriend, now that's something he would never forget.

Tony walks around with a content grin on his face as he watches the rest of the Avengers put in work; Bruce and Thor are putting the finishing touches on the cake, Clint is setting up the gaming counsel with Mario Kart despite Tony telling him to pick something different for once, Nat is putting all of the best snacks out on the table and Sam is switching off grilling on the patio with Tony. It's surprisingly warm in New York for March— 53 and sunny to be exact— and he's taking full advantage.

True, Tony had to push aside every natural instinct in him that screamed "fly your boyfriend to Paris!" And wanted him to buy an overwhelming number of gifts just to show Bucky how much he cares. Because he does care. Very much. Maybe too much. And can he really be blamed for the fact that growing up, money was thrown around more frequently than affection, oftentimes being substituted for it? No matter, a laid back afternoon in the Tower with all his friends is something Tony is sure Bucky will appreciate, even if it goes against every instinct in his body. Sam switches with him to go and bicker with Clint and Tony lets himself enjoy the sunlight as he flips burgers on the patio.

When Bucky arrives back on the communal floor from his normal workout with Steve, he's actually surprised to see most of the team gathered in the living room. The air smells sweet with pastries and Steve can only assume Thor and Bruce went a bit overboard with desserts.

It's not that Bucky wasn't expecting the team to remember his birthday, he just didn't see the need to go out of the way to do something special. After all, when he woke for his early morning workout to a sweet kiss from his boyfriend and a vase of flowers on the bedside table, that was enough. Bucky wasn't expecting anything more, doesn't need anything more. But how can he be mad with Steve grinning at him like a lunatic as he guides him to a cake with his name on it? No, it doesn't matter that he's technically over 100; it's still nice to celebrate.

"Happy birthday, Yasha," Nat squeezes his arm affectionately as she moves over to the couch next to Clint who already has Mario Kart up and running as well as three shooting games on standby.

Shooting games always get intense— what with Bucky's natural talent for sniping and the Winter Soldier relishing in the feel of a weapon in his hands (even if it is fake) and Clint never missing a shot, it's usually an intense mix of cursing and boasting.

"None of this was necessary, you know," Bucky tries to be casual but can't fight the fond grin crossing his lips.

"102 man, you're getting old," Wilson smirks and gives him a rather hard pat on the back and truthfully, Bucky wouldn't expect any different. "Besides, it wasn't as if Stark was going to let us forget."
