2018 is just as much of a horribly tragic year for Ariana Grande. The ups and downs of her engagement with Pete and friendship with Selena. Hopefully, 2019 brings something different...
"I know it doesn't change anything, but I said it weeks ago. All of it was before we got together. Everyone's digging it up because we're engaged."
"Okay. I know," Ariana squeezed her eyes shut in frustration as she listened to Pete plead his case since the second she woke up, "I'm mad. I know my fans are mad. And... this is just our first bump in the road, y'know? I know, you regret it now. And you would take it back. I just- I need to say something. It's been two days."
Pete held Ariana's hand as they sat together on the couch. Ariana laid her head on his shoulder and curled up into his side. The media was still milking the story just as hard as everyone on twitter and instagram. She knew it was fucked up and a sensitive topic.... but, Pete was her fiance. She loved him. He was clearly regretting it and everyone makes mistakes every once in awhile. He was human. She knew a lot of people were gonna be angry at her. She didn't care anymore. You can't please the world, it's impossible.
When she logged onto twitter, she saw a tweet from a fan: "I respect Ariana and I want her to be happy and everything, but she was just broken after the Manchester bombing, so I don't know why she is still with Pete, like yeah he made that joke awhile ago, but like it's not funny, it's just rude. This is my opinion."
Ariana decided to reply and comment on the situation for the first time: "this has been v tough & conflicting on my heart. he uses comedy to help ppl feel better ab how f-ed up things in this world are. we all deal w trauma differently. I of course didn't find it funny. it was months ago & his intention wasn't/is never malicious but it was unfortunate"
She followed up that tweet with a second one: "i hear and respect you all always"
Her replies to fans (or haters, honestly, because lately they seem to call themselves fans once she replies back to them and calls them out) didn't stop there. She was scrolling through the promotional account for her fourth album, Sweetener, on instagram and saw a comment that rubbed her the wrong way: "Guess when they break up she will be stuck with his name on her album"
Ariana replied to the fan under the post: "he's my fiancé. this is my album. i'm an honest & emotional artist & human being & if my openness in my work isn't for u, that's ok i won't be offended. ♡ still wishing y'all all the love in the world"
She logged off of all her social media and called it a day. Lately, noone was pleased with anything she did.

Selena was hanging out with her closest friends when they all decided to get matching tattoos to honor their friendship. Selena was active and posting on instagram which her fans were happy about. She showed off her matching tattoos with girlfriends Courtney Barry, Raquelle Stevens, and Ashley Cook.
They chose to get inked with the number four, for good reason: "#4 because these women have stayed by my side for 7 years. 4, because you are my 4 for the rest of my life. I love you ladies. You all inspire me to be better, stronger, closer to god and we have lived the most INSANE story together already. Can’t wait for 50 more!!"
Selena shared another photo which revealed she and Courtney got additional coordinating tattoos of the number one: "And lastly, my actual #1 you are an incredible woman. The way you handle life's most confusing moments is indescribable and graceful. You are moved by the littlest stories to the most heartbreaking ones, you will give someone your perfume if they say you smell nice, you are freaking hilarious and always stand firm in your faith, a loving sister, an amazing friend and a beautiful daughter. You are the definition of FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made baby! #1."
