2018 is just as much of a horribly tragic year for Ariana Grande. The ups and downs of her engagement with Pete and friendship with Selena. Hopefully, 2019 brings something different...

Family and friends danced around Ariana's packed apartment for her early christmas party. Her latest single, Imagine, blared over the speakers. Her place was decked out with some unusual christmas decor. She had black stockings and candles, white lights strung out all over the walls, a disco ball, glitter and dark utensils, and an upside down tree.

It literally hung upside down off of the ceiling by a base of dark colored presents at the top. When Ariana saw a photo of it online, she couldn't believe it existed, and had to have one in her home immediately.
Ariana's Christmas & Chill EP started blasting through the speakers and the crowd let out enthusiastic screams. She made her way through the crowd, making sure to greet everyone, pose for selfies, and smiled when she noticed Selena enter the apartment with two of her friends. They spotted each other and instantly smiled.
"You came! Thank you for coming!" Ariana greeted with a huge grin as she pulled the fellow singer into a tight hug.
"I hope I'm not too late," Selena pulled back and Ariana noticed her cute christmas sweater.
"Nah. You're good. I don't think anyone's gonna be leaving anytime soon," Ariana hugged Selena's friends as they were introduced to her.
"This place is way bigger than I thought." Selena commented, admiring all the decorations.
"If you ladies would follow me, I'll give you the tour. You can pick up whatever food and drink you want along the way."
"Sounds good."
Ariana gave them a tour of her $16 million dollar apartment. She gave them a tour of the living room (where most of the party was held at), the kitchen, five of the bedrooms, showed them where the four bathrooms are at, the gym, the pool with a cool skylit, and the balcony.
"Sel, I want you to meet my mom." Ariana took Selena's hand as she guided her over to her mother who sipped on a glass of wine standing out on the balcony overlooking the city, "Mommy, this is Selena."
"Of course, I know who she is!" Joan pulled the girl into a welcoming hug, "It's nice to meet you, sweetheart."
"Nice to meet you too."
"Ariana didn't mention that she sent you an invitation," Joan gave her daughter a look, "I won't bother you both any longer. I hope you enjoy the rest of the party, Selena."
"Mom." Ariana hoped her blush was hidden by her foundation.
Selena's two friends went inside to dance and take pictures together while Selena talked to Ariana out on the balcony. The two girls admired the stars that started to come out as the night dragged on. Selena was suprised by the amount of people that were here. Ariana usually only had small intimate parties.
"I saw your performance on Jimmy Fallon. I couldn't believe you did those whistle notes live," Selena had a glass of sparkling water as she talked over the muffled music coming from inside.
"I try my best," Ariana joked, "Jimmy's show is always fun. He's real... doesn't act fake, y'know?"
Selena nodded. Ariana pushed her long hair off of her shoulder, "You look great, Selena. I'm really proud that you got help. How's everything going? What's next for Ms. Gomez?"
"Thanks. Everything's good... I'm not rushing into anything. I'm ready for this year to be over with. I hope next year starts out... I just don't want all the drama from everyone."
"Amen to that."
Ariana rocked back and forth on her heels while Selena finished off her glass of sparkling water, "How are you though... after everything? You've had a crazy year."
Selena referred to her recently called off engagement to Pete. She never met the man, but knew that the relationship had to be strained because of how much the media reported on it since the very beginning.
"I wouldn't say crazy. More like... disastrous," Ariana rolled her eyes, "I did some dumb shit, but I'm finally recovering from it."
"And you... you're getting help?"
"Yeah. I've been in therapy for years now."
After a moment, Selena pointed behind her and laughed, "I wasn't expecting to see a christmas tree hanging from the ceiling when I got here."
Ariana grinned at Selena changing the topic to a much more lighter subject, "Yeah. Bought it online. I have ornaments I want everyone to sign and hang up on the branches."
"Sounds like a good idea."
"I guess we better get back inside and dance before everyone starts leaving."
Once back inside, dancing around with friends and having a genuinely great time, Selena was glad that she showed.
