2018 is just as much of a horribly tragic year for Ariana Grande. The ups and downs of her engagement with Pete and friendship with Selena. Hopefully, 2019 brings something different...
Selena spent basically all of her free time in the studio trying to perfect her album. Fans anticipated it's release, but she felt so much pressure considering how well they loved her last one. She wanted to release it on her own and when she wanted. She didn't want her label or her fans pressuring her to release something she wasn't 100% in love with. So, for now, she's sticking to releasing collaborations. Her latest song, I Can't Get Enough, with Benny Blanco, J Balvin, and Tainy was released.

Ariana was also working on a collabortion with 2 Chainz. They recorded the song pretty quickly, he teased the song from his upcoming album, and then the music video was released the same night his album dropped. Rule The World was a successful collab as it climbed the charts.

During all of this, Ariana was too busy to attend the 2019 Brit Awards, but she did suprise everyone with a pre-recorded acceptance speech after winning International Solo Female Artist. Her first Brit award.

I wish I were there with you guys. I have so much love for the UK and for my fans over there. I really miss y'all, and I wish I were there. I hopefully can be there next year.

Days later, everything for Ariana's Sweetener World Tour was planned and ready. Custom outfits were made, interlude visuals were recorded, the stage was done being created and put together, they were just rehearsing and waiting for the first show to kick off.
Ariana posted the first message ever about the tour to her fans on instagram: 'dear sweetener / thank u next tour audience friends, we're sending out emails soon encouraging you to order a clear bag to bring your things into the venues as security is going to be very precise and smooth but for sure super strict. they're super cheap and simple but having them ahead of time will for sure have things go as smooth as possible so if you see this in your emails please don't ignore it! my team n i appreciate it very much! p.s. any clear bags within a certain size (all info will be in the ✉) are totally fine to bring if you already have your own, i just wanted to make sure you saw these and knew about all this ahead of time so everything can go as smoothly and safely as possible. love you. thank you!'
With the opening tour date approaching, Ariana was excited and also understandably nervous. She really didn't want to have a mental breakdown on stage, but wanted to get back out there and work through it. She was still seeing a therapist and everything, but worried that she wouldn't be able to keep up with the tour life like she once had. Like all the wonderfully amazing memories it brought her, it also brought depressing and heartbreaking ones with it....
