2018 is just as much of a horribly tragic year for Ariana Grande. The ups and downs of her engagement with Pete and friendship with Selena. Hopefully, 2019 brings something different...

Mac passing was still hard for Ariana to deal with. She feel into a depression. All she wanted to do was eat and stay in bed all day. The only people she called on the phone were her mother and grandmother. Pete was amazing and being so good to her. He encouraged her to get out of bed and eat with him, he held her when she cried, and he listened to her vent about how tragic and unfair life is.
A few days after Mac's passing, Ariana shared a video of the rapper to her instagram. In the video, Mac was about to tell her a story when he realizes, she was filming him on her phone. "Baby," he says, putting his hand up to the camera and laughing. "It makes me happy," She tells him, to which he responds: "I'll tell you the story as many times as you want."
Ariana captioned the post with a heartfelt message: 'i adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will. i can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. i really can’t wrap my head around it. we talked about this. so many times. i’m so mad, i’m so sad i don’t know what to do. you were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. i’m so sorry i couldn’t fix or take your pain away. i really wanted to. the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. i hope you’re okay now. rest.'
The video was viewed more than 43 million times and liked by more than 9 million people.

As Pete and Ariana layed in bed at night, Ariana couldn't hold back the tears anymore. She tried to cry silently when she thought Pete was asleep. He woke up and wrapped his arms around her, "I'm here, baby. I'm here."
He whispered into her ear as she cried harder and tried to stop sobbing. The last few days were like this. Pete knew what she was crying about, and he knew she tried to hide it, he also knew that there was nothing he could do to take the pain away. All he could really do was be there. But, he still felt like it wasn't enough.

She hadn't seen Ariana since the day of Mac's passing. She wanted to reach out to Ariana, but didn't want to say the wrong thing. And she knew that Ariana would want her space. After the meet and greet, Selena was in a car and was being escorted home.
She thought that a text message to Ariana would have to suffice: "Keeping you, and everyone, in my prayers. I know, it feels unbearable. I'm sorry. If there is anything you need, don't hesitate to ask. Love you."
