Days before her Sweetener World Tour kicked off, Ariana teased photos of a new hairstyle on instagram. Little did her fans know, it was a tease leading up to her live debut of Needy at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards that she was unable to attend. A pre-recorded performance was aired instead.
She ended up winning Female Artist of the Year and Pop Album of the Year.

Selena was visiting family in Texas when Ariana invited her to the opening show of the Sweetener World Tour with backstage passes in Albany, New York. Since Selena agreed to go, she booked a hotel in New York for a few days and some of her friends agreed to go with her. She was excited to be in attendance, and around a concert setting, but was glad it wasn't her performing. She just wasn't ready yet.
"How are things going with rehearsal? Only a few days left!" Selena texted Ariana back before she turned in for the night.
"Eagerly waiting!!!!! Can't wait to start this tour and see you!" Ariana's reply made Selena's phone vibrate.
"It's been too long. Last time I saw you was at your xmas party. Hopefully, my schedule will clear up soon so I can meet up with you more," Selena said, "Even if you are touring! ;)"
"How's your album coming? Said you were in the studio a lot," Ariana was curious considering Selena kept teasing her snippets of the upcoming project.
"Girlllll.... don't even wanna ask," Selena added a few face palming emojis after the text.
"Meanwhile, I'm already working on AG6."
"It's way too damn easy for you, huh?" Selena chuckled as she sent another text immediately after it, "Ms. Ariana Grande with an incredible voice and the ability to turn everything she touches into a hit!"
"Well.. when you're right, you're right," Came Ariana's reply with the use of her own Arimoji.
"The next days can't go by fast enough. I'm ready to see these tour visuals/hear these albums live."
"Good. Wanna see how my fans and everyone reacts. :) you'll be as close as you want btw."
The bright light from her phone screen lulled her to sleep. She dreamed that Ariana and her met up backstage. When she woke up in the morning, with her dead phone lying next to her in bed, it was then that she realized she drifted off to sleep while texting.
