Happy December! Even though Christmas hype starts in September/October! I'll try and squeeze a holiday-themed cliche somewhere this month.

Comment the cliches as you plea-ese, fa la-la-la-la-la, la la la la.

I stared at myself in the mirror before getting ready and sighed. I didn't win the gene lottery did I? I had big blue eyes the color of the sky and dark long eyelashes that curled upwards a little. My soft wavy brown hair reached to my back and I had smooth skin with a light dusting of faint freckles. I've been told I have great lips, but they're just a boring plump heart shape.

What it should ACTUALLY sound like if the character is "average".

I was always frustrated with my appearance. I had brownish-blondish hair that was thin and oily and required constant shampooing. Because of my hair, I'd gained some acne near my hairline and forehead, paired with having freckles that looked like blackheads My eyes seemed to be the world's oddest hazel color, with teeny weeny flecks of brown scattered across an odd dull greenish-grayish color. My lips? They disappear when I smile.

It drives me crazy when the FMC calls herself "plain and uninteresting" when she legit looks like Demi Rose or something.

If your model features are ugly, ThEN wHaT aM I sUpPoSed tO Be?!?!! An actual pile of            S H I T?

How to avoid?: Give her better body confidence! If she looks good, then she should know it. If your character is reserved and humble, she can still think she looks good, but just don't pull her into believing she's trash. If you want to make your characters actually average, then try using some things I used in the "actually" paragraph.
