Your grade is given at birth and determines who you are and what your purpose is. If you didn't fill that, you were taken to the "infirmary".

Our society was perfect. Everyone was given a job perfectly tailored to them and if you didn't perform at the standard, you were never seen again.

There's a common trope I see about humans reaching a point where society is designed to have perfect humans and if anyone doesn't meet the standard, things don't end well. It gets repetitive easily, with part of the cliche being, in the end, the MC breaks away from the society or the society changes in some way.

Also, the MC usually has followed the rules for a period of time in their lives, but something happened that made them realize how twisted everything was.

A friend once told me she finds utopian-like societies creepy and unsettling because of their perfect nature. She finds that knowing this perfect world is forced and unnatural gives her the chills, and I can agree. Unnatural smiles are one of the creepiest things that plague this earth.

The funny part is, the society never meets their high standards because there's always someone who doesn't fit (usually the MC). The stories are kinda like proof the humans will never reach total perfection.

Sometimes, the society trades bad traits for other bad traits while trying to achieve a good trait. For example, say you aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer, giving you the trait of being stupid, but when you eventually fix your stupidity and become really smart, you trade the bad trait of stupidity for the bad trait of arrogance. Not saying all really smart people are arrogant, just an example.

How to fix?: In utopian societies, there's not much you can really do. However, if you still wanna write a futuristic story, you could try a retro space aesthetic!
