I've been seeing a lot more books with strong female protagonists (yay!), but there's still a fair amount of books out there (mainly werewolf books) where the FMC is an obedient little robot. The guy could ask her to jump off a cliff and she'd probably do it.
Of course, sometimes it makes sense in werewolf books when wolves are submissive because their Alpha told them to do something, but usually, Lunas are the Alpha's equal.
Lunas also may be immune to the "Alpha tone" in some books, but the MMC still uses it on the FMC, implying that he wants her to submit to him.
Sometimes it's the relationship dynamic too.
Regardless, it isn't right to force your partner to do everything you want them to do, especially if they are uncomfortable with it.
