Chapter Thirteen

So the day of Graduation has finally arrived. When It was over we went to the graveyard. I said hello to my mom, dad, and brother. Before we left I said under my breath, "Mom...Dad...I hope I finally made you proud..." Derek gave me a concerned look.

It's been about a month since graduation and I'm thinking about asking Tavonda an important question. "Whatcha doin' Dweeb?" Tavonda asks. snapping back to reality I say, "Just thinking Babe." She looked at me and said, "About what?" I stood up and hugged her and said, "we're going to a dinner tonight." She wrapped her arms around me and nodded.

When we got to the restaurant she gave me a look that said 'seriously hun'. "Why here?" She asked as she laughed. "What. It's your favorite pizza place so why not?" Still laughing she said, "I don't know. It's cute. Another reason why I love you." I laughed as we went in.

Her eyes started getting watery. "Tavonda IvaLouise Sudduth. I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" I choked out. She stared at me before hugging me and saying, "Yes!!" I hugged her as I tried not to cry myself.

Derek took me to my favorite pizza place and when we got home he looked sick. "Something wrong Dweeb?" I asked. He smiled. Then got on his knee. I started to cry knowing what he was doing.

He pulled out a simple silver wedding ring. "Tavonda IvaLouise Sudduth. I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" He said nervously. I flung myself at him saying, "Yes!!" he hugged me and then we went inside. He kissed me as we watched A classic Chucky movie. The next thing I know it's pouring outside and then the power goes out.

"I'll get some candles." Derek said. I waited in the dark until I saw a spark then a flame. Derek sat back beside me and we talked for awhile.
