The sloshing of the heartbeat echoed in her mind as she rested her hand on her stomach. Staring down at the black and white image with the cursor resting on the genital region of the baby's sex, she felt bittersweet. Hearing Zoe babble in the backseat, she zoned out into a daydreaming space, envisioning a newborn infant accompanying her.

"Are you excited about your baby sister Zo?" Savannah asked

"Baby!" she yelled loudly

Smiling she continued down the street to Babies R' Us to get some things she had been eyeing since the moment she decided to keep the baby. She had a few names in mind, but wanted to have the opportunity to go over all of that with Trey. He not being there was symbolic. She wondered was it an omen to what was to come. How many days and nights would she spend alone raising their daughter, and would be still expect her to play mommy to Zoe? Was there a future beyond dating that would come with the effort she was pulling?

Glancing down at her phone, she saw his text telling her he was boarding his flight soon, but it honestly no longer moved her. She rolled her eyes, continuing to ignore it as she pulled into the shopping center. After blowing up on him earlier that day, the last thing she care about was more excuses. Sliding into a close parking space designated for expectant mothers and those with small children, she killed the engine, grabbing her wallet along with Zoe's diaper bag, and took a deep breath. Flutters went off in her womb as she giggled at the gentle tickles, knowing that the sensation was of her active, healthy child. Remember her doctor's warning about her blood pressure being a little higher than normal, she knew it had a lot to do with her heightened aggression from earlier that day. Deciding to rest and relax was best, she put all of her stress to the back of her mind to focus on being healthy for her and her unborn child.

"Savannah, how much did you spend?" Kamyah asked staring at Savannah on FaceTime

"I swear I meant to buy like two things" Savannah said looking around at the several bags surrounding her

"See, you should've had a boy" Kamyah said shaking her head

"Eww no. They don't have cute clothes" Savannah scrunched up her nose

"Exactly bitch! You would've spent like $100, top. Are those baby Uggs?!" Kamyah yelled

"I got Zoe a matching pair too" Savannah shrugged

"Ooooh my God! You're sick" Kamyah laughed

Sitting in the empty bedroom that would serve as the baby's nursery. Chloe was running around the empty space while Zoe struggled to play with her. Feeling another flutter in her womb, Savannah jolted, placing her hand on her stomach as Kamyah pouted coyly

"Aww my widdle partner in crime. Mini Vanz!" Kamyah joked

"Please don't call her that. Makes her sound like the vehicle" Savannah said jokingly

"Oh hush. So, where's her rock head father?" Kamyah asked

"I guess flying in now. Who knows?" Savannah shrugged

"Ugh, it's hands on sight when I see him. Anyway, so now that I know the sex, I can get this baby shower underway. You still want 90s?" Kamyah asked

"Yup, which air brushed shirts and a graffiti cake, 90's music, and a photo booth" Savannah said

"You're making me work hard. It's because I love you and I finally get to be an aunt because who knows when Kareem is gonna settle down and pop out a baby. That girlfriend who whatever, Iesha or some shit. She's a demon" Kamyah groaned
