The teenage boy finished tying his tie, after 5 tries, and looked at himself in the mirror. He took one final look at the picture on his locker, the one of Hannah Baker. The last five months had been way too hard for the boy, and he was finally giving the proper send off for the love of his life.
"Clay! Come on!"
The boy exhaled through his mouth. He grabbed his headphones, his CD player and his CD. He looked at the CD and smiled at it. It was I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It, the second album from The 1975. He flashed back to Christmas 2016, when Hannah gave him the two albums by the band, along with a personal CD player and a pair of wired black Beats. He remembered how happy they were, not even imagining it'd be their last Christmas together.
When he got into the car with his parents, he said nothing, and just threw on the headphones and turned on the player. He closed his eyes, as he got lost in the music.
When they arrived at the church, Clay took off his headphones. He stepped out, straightened his tie, took a deep breath and walked in.
