4 months later
It was Pride Month, and Hannah had been having a rough few months. She had been struggling with her suicidal thoughts and she didn't express it to anyone, especially not her parents as she thought people would think she was just following in Alex's footsteps. She also wanted to make Jess and Clay think that she was getting better. The harassment had continued ever since school started up again after the two weeks, and Jessica was now getting homophobic notes in her locker, and even after she went to Mr Porter and her parents went to the principal, nothing changed. She was told that she shouldn't be so vocal about her sexual orientation because of her age, which disgusted her, Hannah and Clay.
Hannah and Jessica sat on her bed, looking at videos and photos on their Instagrams and Twitters from the pride parades that were going on every day around the world in June. Hannah let out a sigh.
"I wish we could go to one of those. Not just because its gay and it'll be full of cute lesbian and bisexual girls, and cute bisexual boys, but I mean, c'mon. Look at the music they're putting on at these things. In this one in Dublin, this adorable couple is doing 102 together. I'd love to go but that ain't gonna happen.", she said, and Jessica nodded in agreement.
Clay was listening to her and he was on his phone. He started to Google something and he smiled at his phone.
"Ooh, who are you texting, Helmet?", Hannah said jokingly, causing Clay to smirk and put up his middle finger jokingly.
"Ehh, fuck you.", he said jokingly, making the two girls roll their eyes.
He looked at his phone again. He eyed the date. The 24th of June. The day after they got their summer vacation. Perfect.
"Hey, guys, I've got to go and put some stuff together. Its my cousins birthday and my parents always do this over the top party and I've missed the first 3 hours. Devastating.", he lied, putting his phone in his pocket.
"OK. See you later, Helmet.", Hannah said as he walked out the door.
She turned to Jessica.
"A lot of his cousins have been having a lot of parties lately.", she said, and the two of them chuckled.
2 weeks later
It was the day after school had been let out for the summer. Clay and Jessica came over to Hannah's house early in the morning. Clay had recently gotten his drivers license, and he was given a gift of a car. He grinned at the two girls when he went into the house.
"You're in a good mood.", Jessica said jokingly.
"I sure am. I'm taking you two off for the day.", he said, wiggling his keys.
The girls smiled at each other.
"OK. Where to?", Hannah asked.
"You'll see."
1 hour later
After an hour of chatting and listening to music, Hannah turned to Clay.
"OK, Helmet. Where are we going?", she asked with a smile.
"We're here.", Clay said as he parked the car on a street.
He looked at his phone.
"And right on time!", he said cheerily as he got out of the car.
A parade of gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, transgender and asexual flags came down the street. Music could be heard and people were cheering. There were charity signs in rainbow colours in the air and people were dressed in drag. There were people of all shapes, colours, sizes, sexualities, genders and races. There was only one word for this place.
