CHAPTER 4
Shen Yue's POV
"There is only one success - to be able to spend your whole life in your own way." I exclaimed.
"It seems only yesterday when we first set foot on this University. We've been through so much struggles yet we conqured it", I said while looking at the audience.
"We know that life is not a paradise waiting to be enjoyed; it is a painstaking journey. However, graduates, let us be reminded that acceptance of truth is what motivates us to look for a change."
"A change that is both beneficial to both ourselves and those surrounds us", I smiled.
"Surely, the next chapter of our journey will be rough and overbearing, but we should allow our inner determination and courage to provide ways to overcome these toil."
"And always remember, the world offers you comfort but you were not made for comfort. You were made for greatness!" I exclaimed.
"Fellow graduates, good luck in life! Thank you and once again, good afternoon!" I said as tears fall down my face.
"Let's give a round of applause to our Magna Cum Laude, Ms. Shen Yue Liang!" the emcee announced as the audience let out a loud cheer and applause.
I stepped down the podium a bit shaking, I am not really used to be in front of a lot of people. I walked towards the VIPs of our University. I shake their hands as they say their congratulations.
As the graduation ceremony ended a big hug welcomed me.
"That was a very good speech! I am so proud of you, Yue! Yue nailed it! You looked very calm up there", she grinned.
"Thank you so much, Jia! Congratulations to both us. I am also proud of you!"
The two of us are now crying. But not because we're sad but because we are both happy and thankful.
"Oh! Both of you stop crying already. You will look ugly", my mom interrupted our moment.
"Come here dear", she offered a hug.
"Moommm!"
"I have never been so proud of what you have achieved, dear. I am so lucky to have you as my daughter", she's now crying.
"Awwee, thank you mom for everything! I couldn't have done this if you and dad did not support my decisions."
"Congratulations, my princess! You deserved everything you have right now", my dad said.
I turned to hug my dad this time.
"Thank you daddy! I love you so much." I kissed his cheeks.
"Jia, my sweet daughter! Come to ma", Jia smiled sweetly to my mom and hug her.
Eversince we were little my mom treated Jia as her own daughter. She loves her the way she loves me. For her, ever since Jia and her family moved to our neigborhood, my mom felt that she had a second daughter.
"Congratulations, Jia! Ma is so happy for you."
"Thank you, Ma! Thank you for being my second mom!" She hugs my mom.
"Okay, lets stop all this drama now", dad chuckled.
"Before we forget, let's take a picture!" my mom held her camera out from her bag.
"Smile my beautiful ladies!" Dad said as he clicked the camera and a flash hit our faces.
"Thanks daddy!"
