She couldn't get out of bed, not because of her mental state, but because she simply couldn't.

Everything hurt.

Her time was running out, and fast.

She didn't go to school and stayed home, spending the day with her mother that wouldn't leave her side.

She hated this.

She hated the numbness she felt on her fingertips and toes.

She hated the limit of her body, she hated the limit of her life.

She hated limits.

Her friends have been blowing up her phone but she didn't feel the urge to answer their calls.

She wanted to be alone.

She didn't want anyone to know, not even him.

Not anymore.

What if they judge her for keeping it for so long? What if they look at her as weak?

What is they treat her differently?

The what if's were countless; so many she didn't see the point of speaking about her cancer anymore.

The day was ending and she felt herself relax.

No one came.

That thought was held strong till she saw Dustin barge into her room like he owned the place.

"Amy! Why didn't you come to school! I was so wo-" Dustin paused in his speech once he took in Amy on the bed.

He'd never seen her like this. So... Thin, so pale, so weak.

He was shocked.

"Amy?" He said, he couldn't believe what he saw. "What's wrong?" He rushed to her, seating at the side of the bed.

Amy's heart was pounding in her chest.

Why did he have to come? She thought, keeping her gaze on her legs covered by a blanket.

"Amy..."

She took in a deep breath, then decided to suck it up and tell him. She'll take the pain, she'll take it the best she can.

"I'm sick Dustin," Amy finally said.

"Oh, really? I didn't notice," Dustin said with sarcasm, in an attempt to lighten the mood.

He was always so...him.

"No, I'm really sick Dustin, very, very sick. I - I have cancer," she confessed.

Dustin's eyes widened and he paled, "w-what?"

"I've know for almost a month now. I have less that eleven days to live."

"Does Deborah know about this?" He asked and Amy shook her head.

"I was too scared to tell anyone, I-I'm so sorry," Amy said, biting her lips to prevent the tears from falling but failing miserably.

"Hey, it's okay," he said, pulling her into him for a comforting hug and letting her cry on his shoulder.

"I just wish you told me earlier so I'd be more prepared, you know," he said, his voice still holding some humour but Amy could make out the crack as he spoke.

She pulled back, "I didn't have the courage to tell you earlier."

"I understand," he said, holding her hands softly.

Amy felt so bad for him though, almost or possibly loosing his two best friends in one month with guilt still clung to his chest for one.

She could see the sadness in his eyes no matter how much he smiled.

She's known him that long.

"What about that guy I saw you with at the hospital?" Dustin said, desperately trying to change the subject.

Amy blushed, "Clayton?" She asked and he nodded.

"Yah, how come I don't know about your secret boyfriend?"

"He's not my boyfriend," she quickly interjected.

"Well by the looks of things you must really like him. I mean, you're practically a tomato right now and he's not even here."

Amy bit her lip and lightly punched his shoulder, "shut up," she mumbled, making him laugh, she couldn't help but giggle too.

"Um, does he...know about this?" Dustin asked carefully.

Amy suddenly frowned and he regretted asking that question.

"No."

He stared at her incredulously, "why?"

"I-I can't tell him."

Dustin sighed, "Amy, you have to tell him, from what I noticed in that hospital he really, really likes you. The longer you keep it from him the harder it will hurt when he finds out."

Amy was a bit shocked by his wise words, considering he was very oblivious and stupid when it came to emotions.

"But-but what if he leaves me?"

Dustin snorted.

"I highly doubt it, that boy has clearly falling in love with you."

Amy smiled.

She felt better.
