Saturday.
Amy walked down the street and enjoyed the sun and cold breeze that tickled her cheeks.
She walked aimlessly in the park, glancing at families and smiling at them.
She felt her phone buzz and found another text message from Dustin.
With a sigh she attempted to ignore it and keep her phone back in her pocket but bumped into someone.
The phone fell to the ground, just as she heard a male voice, "I'm so sorry."
"It's fine, I wasn't looking at were I was going."
She went to grab her phone from the ground but the person had the same idea because they ended up bumping heads.
They were both in squatting positions but he grabbed the phone first, Amy looked up at him and her lips formed a smile.
"Hi Clayton. Small world huh," Amy smiled and immediately cringed at what she said. Seriously Amy! Small world?!
He smiled also, "hey, how are you?"
"Okay," Amy replied, feeling out of breath, "I thought you'd be at the cafe."
"Day off," he shrugged. "Would you mind if I joined you on your walk?"
Amy immediately beamed, "of course not!" She accidentally exclaimed and cleared her throat to hide her embarrassment, "I meant, s-sure," she said, this time trying to sound calm.
She failed miserably.
Amy didn't understand why she felt this way around Clayton, no other person did this to her but him. He made her feel so alive even though she were dying.
All she wanted was to spend as much time with him as she could, she craved this feeling. The feeling of pure joy. Not the one she's forcing herself to.
Clayton handed her his phone, and she smiled at him, "thanks."
"No problem."
"So, how about your little sister? I haven't officially met her," Amy pointed out. She noticed Clayton break into a huge grin at the memory of his sister.
"And your little brother, I haven't met him either."
Amy smiled, "what do you say tomorrow I bring Mark and you bring Zoe to the cafe."
He nodded, "that sounds good."
They walked around the park in silence, their arms brushing and leaving sparks that Amy couldn't ignore. She got the sudden idea to tell Deborah about Clayton but thought against it.
Deborah's got more things to worry about.
"You know, you never did give me you number," Clayton speaks up. Amy almost slapped herself. Right.
"True, here let's swap phones," Amy said and they did just that.
After they exchanged numbers they talked a little more, Clayton talked about how he desired to be a doctor which surprised Amy because he didn't seem like he was a medicine person.
But who is she to judge?
Amy didn't really talk about her future plans, she felt uncomfortable talking about what was never going to happen.
"I should probably go home, I don't want my mom to get worried," clayton said.
"I can give you a ride," Amy suggested.
"I'd like that, thanks."
She felt generous.
