Chapter 14 – Quaver
"W-What? What are you talking about?" She stuttered.
"You need to stop this. It's not good for your health." He said.
"What? But you were the one who told me to keep fighting for my dreams. In case you forgot, Calum, my dream is to sing. To share my thoughts to everyone through music." She furrowed her brows, definitely not liking where this talk is going.
"Look, ever since you- we started this, you've been taken to the hospital countless of times. Clearly, this path isn't for you."
She shook her head in disagreement.
"Calum, I was born with this sickness and I can't do anything about it. Even before I started this, I've had this already. Singing in front of people is not what caused this!" She raised her voice in anger, hoping that her words will pierce through him. But no matter what she said, there's this invisible sphere around him that just refused to take her words in.
"I thought you wanted to sing with me." Her voice cracked.
"I did. You hear me? Did. That was before I found Luke, Michael and Ashton. My dreams are important to me, Ai."
She bit her lip when he called her that. She always liked that nickname when it rolled off his tongue. But now, it's like venom to her. Striking to poison her being with pain.
"I want to sing in front of many people and I can't do that when you're constantly being taken to the hospital because of your asthma attacks."
"My asthma attacks can be prevented if I don't do intense activities, you know that, Calum!"She was desperate to stop this. She was desperate not to lose him but at this moment, it felt one-sided. She was the only one putting up a fight. "Come on, I- We can still do this! I don't care if you have another band. I'm fine with it, just sing with me!"
Calum shook his head and stood up from the chair before speeding to the front door.
"Calum!" She followed him, grabbing his arm.
"So, this is it? You found the ideal people who'll help you with your dream so you're just going to throw me away?" Tears clouded her vision, she feared his answer because she already know what it is based on the expression his face.
Calum didn't answer her and she loosened her grip on his arm as she watched him leave through the door. As soon as the door closed with a loud bang, she finally broke down crying.
"So, that's why you were reluctant in joining the band at first!" Adrian's eyes widened upon realization.
Airee chuckled softly and uttered a small "Yeah."
"Did you...uhm.. never mind." Ritsu stuttered.
"Ritsu, spill it." Airee looked at him straight in the eye, waiting for him to tell her.
"Did you ever blame their band for Calum's actions?"He finally asked.
Airee gave out a sigh before shaking her head 'no'.
"I would never. Calum acted on his own, therefore, the rest of the guys aren't to blame." Shesaid and silence enveloped them once again.
Airee stood up, grabbing the utensils as she spoke and took them to the kitchen sink.
"I'm gonna go head to bed early." She said, not meeting anyone's eyes and not waiting for their replies as she went upstairs to her room. She said that, but they knew better. There's no way Airee is going to sleep after everything she just told them.
