Chapter 22 – Metronome Mark
"We'll be heading out to pick up her parents from the airport." Adrian said as he grabbed the car key from the breakfast counter.
"Okay, be careful." Toru said, as he finished sipping on his coffee.
"Will you be heading straight to the hospital?" Taka asked.
"Yep!" they both answered and they were out of the door.
"Tomoya, Toru and I will be heading to headquarters to talk about the new schedule. Make sure to bring food when you visit Airee." Taka said, glancing at the wall clock and finished his coffee.
"On it." Tomoya said, saluting.
Taka only chuckled.
We all know that hospitals have strict rules and that meant that only a limited people were allowed to stay with the patient overnight. Of course, everyone wanted to stay but they insisted that Calum should stay with her because they thought it would make her happy to wake up to see Calum and since they figured that Airee's parents would want to meet Calum since he's childhood friends with Airee. Last night, before they left the hospital and after everyone made the decision that Calum will be staying with Airee until her parents arrive, the doctor assured them that she's alright and it was just a fever and that she'll be waking up the next day.
Calum stood up from the couch he was laying on to walk closer to Airee and check the thermometer that he put in between her armpits to monitor her temperature. It read forty-three degrees and he frowned, her fever hasn't come down yet. He sighed and wrote it on a piece of paper that he will be giving to the doctor later on. Since last night, she was in IV infusion to provide medication while she's still unconscious and as Calum sees it, the IV bag is almost empty and she hasn't woken up yet and that worried him even more. A soft groan woke him up from his train of thoughts and his eyes directed themselves towards Airee and he realized what was happening as his eyes widened. He ran to the door and opened it, good thing, another nurse's station was conveniently in front of the room they were staying in so he was able to relay the message thet Airee was awake without leaving her alone in the room and the nurse was quick to stand up from her desk and entered the room as fast as possible after grabbing a few things with her.
"How are you feeling?" was the first thing that the nurse asked and Airee just answered with a small 'I'm fine' in a rough voice.
Calum didn't pay any more attention after that since he was busy replying to Adrian that they will be arriving in the hospital with Airee's parents in under two hours since they will be picking up Tomoya and Ryota at the house together with the food.
"Calum, please make sure she drinks plenty of water and this is the schedule of when she should be taking her medicine. Call me when something happens, I'll be at the nurse's station." And with that, the nurse left without another word.
Airee attempted to sit up on her own and Calum rushed to her side to help her, rearranging her pillows from behind her so she can rest her back on them.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" He asked in a soft voice, sitting on the cushioned chair close to her bed. "You're probably hungry, huh? Don't worry, they're on their way with your parents and they're bringing food as well." He added.
"Cal, what happened? What about the show?" were the first things she asked, desperately seeking answers from him.
"Ai, you passed out before the show could start. We were so worried. I was so worried, I should've told Taka and the guys before anything could get worse."
