Chapter 3 – Bars and Measures
Airee sighed as she removed her reading glasses and put them on the table in front of her before massaging her aching temple. She's in the library and it's only been an hour since she started studying for her finals next week and it's already giving her a headache. She adjusted her earphones before tapping the 'next' button on the Spotify app and an all too familiar tune started playing, Amnesia by 5 Seconds of Summer, she leaned back on her chair and closed her tired eyes and tried to recall what she just read in the past hour.
A few minutes later, she felt a tap on her shoulder and she opened her eyes and met the eyes of one of her close friends in school, Gale. She removed one of her earphones from her ear and sent a small 'hey' as she watched her take the seat beside her.
"What's up?" She asked, not missing the grin on her friend's face.
"Guess what?"
"What?"
"I want you to guess!" Gale pouted.
"You...finally got the band shirt that you wanted since last week?" Airee spoke.
Gale frowned. "Unfortunately, no."
"Then, what is it?"
Gale grinned and tapped on her phone a few times before shoving it in front of her face.
"Look at this!"
She held the phone in her hands and stared at the screen to see what it was about. She bit back a grin once she saw the tweet by their management, officially announcing their tour with ONE OK ROCK and 5 Seconds of Summer. It was their first headline tour in Japan and they're really excited about it.
"Wow, this is awesome." She spoke softly.
"I know! And they're touring with ONE OK ROCK as well! And I've yet to listen to 5 Seconds of Summer but I bet they're good if they're touring together with SOARA as well!" She said, trying to contain her voice since the librarian is just a few meters away from them.
Airee just smiled at her. It's a shame that she doesn't know that the vocals and bassist of the band she really loves is right in front of her. She badly wanted to tell her but she figured it wasn't the right time. Not yet, anyway.
"So, are you going to the show?" She asked.
"Of course, I am! Augh, I want you to come with me but I know your mum won't let you so I'm just going to go with one of my internet friends. When will you ever get to go to a concert with me?" Gale frowned.
"When my mum finally gives me permission to go." She answered.
"Which will never happen." Gale pouted, which earned a laugh from Airee.
"Just enjoy the show, for me as well." She said, smiling.
"Of course! I gotta go now, good luck on the studying!" Gale stood up and gave her a kiss on the cheek before leaving the library.
"Thanks!" Airee replied and continued to study, silently familiarizing the highlighted words.
"Wait, what did you say?" Taka asked.
"We want to wear disguises." Airee repeated.
"But, why? Did you guys talk about these amongst yourselves?" Toru asked, still confused as to why they want to wear disguises. "Don't you want the world to know who you really are, instead of your disguises?" He added.
