Riku stood in the courtyard of the "Mysterious Tower" his gaze peering upwards to the sky above. Where a pillar of light descended from the sky. Lighting up before Riku in a bright white light. The doorway which would hopefully lead to Mara. With his hand clasped across his chest,Riku entered the pillar of light. Already feeling weightless as his body began to float upwards to the sky above. Which errupted into a sea of stars, allowing Riku to leave the world he knew behind.
All the while soaring through the infinite sky, Riku came across a faintly glowing star. One that tugged on Riku's heart with a tight grip. Sensing that there was where he needed to go, Riku willed the light to head that way. Sheilding his eyes as the brilliant light intensified almost blinding Riku, before he found himself in the sky of a fairly large town. Riku bracing himself as he allowed his body to fall, zipping through the air at high speeds.
But Riku wasn't unprepared,as his right hand gripping onto the edge of a stone ledge. The young man pulling himself up on the ledge, leaning against the cool stone. A sigh of relief escaping Riku's lips,as he stood up slightly. His gaze lingering on the multi layred fountains which lay before him. The water giving off an almost rainbow hue, soothing Riku slightly despite the situation. Rising to his feet, Riku slid down the side of asphalt. Landing with a slight thump on the ground, as the young man quietly surveyed the area. As the deafening roars of the fountains before him blocking any other sounds.
Riku quietly listened to his surroundings, realizing there was not a single person living in this town. The shops remained unattended, homes lay silent devoid of laughters of families. And the streets remained forever quiet. It had seemed to Riku that perhaps the inhabitants had found shelter in Traverse Town. Like others who had lost their homes to the darkness. And yet if that was true then why hadn't Mara shown up there as well? This puzzled Riku as he continued to explore the area. Soon going through a grey stoned tunnel, which seemed to lead deeper into the town.
Where a fairly large and foreboding castle lay. That tugging sensation making itself known to Riku once more. Who couldn't help but to follow the feeling, his heart feeling as if it were about to burst. Before he stopped at the large palace doors. Riku's chest heaving slightly as he struggled to catch his breathe. Still not quite use to the new sensation. And yet still he felt it, that undeniable pull. She was in there. Somewhere. Extending his left hand forward Riku closed his eyes. Barely even concentrating to call his trusty Keyblade. His "Way to Dawn" weapon appeared in his grip in a blur of shadows.
Riku aimed his keyblade towards the vast keyhole, planted at the center of those double doors. But Riku was suddenly distracted by another piercing headache. Gripping his head tightly with his free hand,Riku struggled to stand. His legs beginning to fail him, before another silhouette vision of Mara appear before him. Her face still unfocused as she too aimed her own keyblade to the keyhole. But she was quickly surrounding by a hoard of Neo Shadows. Heartless. An opponent Mara was not too confident in, as Riku could feel her heart pounding in fear.
Mara released a cry in frustration as she screamed out towards the sky. Knowing infact that Terra or Xehanort could hear her. " I'm not leaving without you, Terra!" Her heartbreaking which caused Riku great agony to even watch. As the Neo Shadows attacked in a single swift motion. They enemy appearing very intelligent as a wave of enemies came crashing down upon Mara. To answer this she held her left hand out in front of her. A brief yet dazzling white barrier appearing beyond her fingertips, deflecting the neo shadows attack temporarily. As while with her free hand, Mara used her keyblade to send a wave of anto gravity to the Neo Shadows.
The Heartless struggling under thr massive gravity magic which bound them to the ground. Watching in awe at the skill Mara held, Riku couldn't help but to crack a small smile. As the raven haired woman then took the opputunity to strike the Neo Shadows down while she could. A sigh of relief escaped her lips, before a shadowy figure approached her from behind. The sudden sensation making Mara's skin crawl, as she swung her Keyblade with all the force she held behind her. As her blade clashed when none other than Master Xehanort who seemed very pleased to see her. "You are quite a strong one. Much too good for Eraqus and that broken boy." He commented, the old man's words sending Mara into a fit. As she angrily pushed against the brute force of the old man.
He, much more capable than his appearance. The old man used his freehand to punch Mara in the stomach. The woman struggling not to double over in pain. As Master Xehanort laughed manically as he continued to attack the battle weakened Mara. Who struggled to even stand. But still her heart did not waver, she stood. Keyblade in hand. And tears in her eyes. "Give him back to me!" She cried, running at the frail old man. Who merely stood in place, a smirk never leaving his features. "Oh child." Master Xehanort began as in a blur of black a silver haired Terra stood before Master Xehanort. His own keyblade in hand as he held it over his head slightly in his trademark fighting style.
"I took him no where. He stands before you, in his true form." Master Xehanort mocked as Mara cursed his name as Terra swiftly approached Mara, his keyblade near inches from her heart. As a sorrowful smile appeared on Mara's face. Soon realizing that she had infact failed once again. Hot tears streamed down her cheeks as Terra shoved the keyblade into Mara's heart. An audible gasp as her heart was ripped from her body, though a single piece of it soared through the air. Dissapearing from sight unknown to Xehanort.
Soon the light in Mara's eyes became very dull, her body a mere husk for the remainder of her heart. It was then that she fell backwards, her keyblade disappearing into an almost glitch like way. While the unconcious Mara was captured by none other than Terranort. Who stared at the determinded woman's face, a small piece of the man crying out for his lover. But his cries were never heard. Nor were the contious sobs of Mara as she was taken deep into the dark shrouded castle. The vision seeming to fall apart like glass shattering, bringing Riku back to reality. Who still held his keyblade out for the keyhole.
His arm shaking at the sight he had witnessed. The pain he had felt when Mara's heart was locked away. And the sudden wholeness he felt when he heart would beat within him. Riku declared he would not leave here without Mara. They would leave together. And whole.
