Riku peered down towards Mara, who remained silent as she too watched her memories unfold. The beautiful woman unable to hide the small smile which formed on her lips when her eyes landed on Terra. His calm sapphire orbs still till this day sent pleasent chills down her spine. She recalled the very moment Terra had stolen her heart. And she since that very day she could never go a day without thinking about him. Riku watched as the image before them dissolved into nothing before being replaced with a new scene. One unfamiliar to Riku, but familiar to Mara. As the two now stood in the "Land of Departure" a place Mara had come to call her new home.
A place filled with so many pleasant memories for Mara, yet this world also held dread. The dread of what was to come for her. Darkness. Eating away at someone Mara held dear. Someone she could have saved if only she were strong enough. Gazing at the scene unfold before them, Riku watched as Terra embraced Mara. His touch feeling as if her skin was set aflame, her face turning a shade of crimson. Unfamiler with such affection, but she did not deny it. After returning with Aqua, and Terra to their home. Mara had begun her own training as a keyblade Master.
As the wise and battle scar covered Master Eraqus, informer Mara that she infact held light. A light so bright and burning it could rival that of the sun. "Take hold of your destiny, for the keyblade will guide you to the light." Simple words but enough to give Mara a new sense of purpose. After that Mara begun training day and night with the determination of one day freeing her world from the clutches of darkness. But that all changed with the Mark of Mastery Exam, and the appearance of the nefarious Master Xehanort. The mere appearence made Mara's skin crawl.
She recalled becoming quite enranged when stumbling upon one of Master Xehanort's training session with Ventus. Young Ventus stumbled to his knees, his hand gripping onto his keyblade in his loose backwards grip. Weak from the slueth of attacks from a strange boy who wore a mask. The boy held his black geared keyblade over Ventus, attempting to end the boy. Who closed his eyes preparing for the strike, but was blocked by Mara. Glaring at the attacker, as she parried the rash attack. The two beginning a rapid dance of steel which clashed against one another over and over. The sound of battle echoing around them causing a mischievous grin to appear on Xehanort's lips.
The tainted Master now interested not only in Ventus, but Mara as well. Who seemed to be teeming at the very seams with a vibrant light. One that scorch any who dared to touch it, and one the Xehanort wished to be plunged into darkness. Suddenly the masked boy was bid to heel by Master Xehanort. The boy seemed quite annoyed almost commenting how annoying it was that Mara had stepped in. His words angering Mara who forced the boy away a few feet. The boy sliding in the earth quite abit, impressed by her strength.
"Funny, your not feeble like the others. But I wonder are you as blind as they are?" The boy questioned his voice shrouded in mystery, his back turned to Mara as he made his way to Xehanort's side. The old man's amber orbs boring into Mara's as he and the masked boy disappeared into a portal of darkness. Leaving Mara to care for the badly wounded Ventus, who struggled to even breathe. "M-Mara-" "I've got you." Mara whispered as she held onto sweet Ven. Since coming to the this world she had come to see the hyper young boy as a little brother. Always doting on him with sweets and attention whenever she had the time. Ven's smile always infectious, as it was the very thing that brought Mara out of her shell.
"N-No....I-I failed." Ventus breathed before passing out in Mara's arms. Gripping onto the unconcious Ven, as Mara shed tears of distress. Not too sure how to approach all of this to Master Eraqus. Or matter of fact of she even could. Biting her bottom lip Mara tore her gaze away from the scene. Unable to bear the pain any longer, knowing what was coming soon. Clutching onto her chest tightly Mara shed silent tears as the image before Riku melted away and soon being replaced with the image of Terra.
Who appeared to stand before Master Eraqus, keyblade in hand demanding to know the truth behind it all. As Terra had come to the aid of a shook Ventus. His small body trembling in fear before his master, tears streaming down his cheeks as he pleaded with his master. "Why attack Ven?!" "I have no choice, this must be done." Master Eraqus combated as an rage filled Terra charged towards his master. Their keyblades clashinf against one another, echoing throughout the area.
While elsewhere now finishing the tasks given to her by Master Eraqus,Mara now wiped the beads of sweat from her brow. A sigh of relief leaving her lips as she smiled in satisfaction at the hard work before her. Rising to her feet Mara begun to hum lightly, happiness evident within her as she playfully skipped across the floor of the throne room. Mara at the time wondering when Aqua would return, as Mara herself had chosen to remain here in the Land of Departure.Knowing for a fact here is where she desperately needed to be. For whenever Terra needed her, he would know exactly where to find her. His light. And that was home. But now a new feeling made itself known to Mara. A familiar sense of dread that weighed heavily on Mara's shoulders. Riku watched as Mara found herself running out into the courtyard where she saw Terra and Master Eraqus in battle. "Terra!" Mara exclaimed, her heart beating loudly in her chest. As the mere sound of her voice took Terra by surprise, distracting him even. As Terra turned to meet the amber orbs of his beloved. Who seemed to weep with tears of joy, for they had been separated far too long. And Mara craved to be near her light once more.
Taking the opputunity Master Eraqus struck Terra in the gut, Terra falling to his knees. As he struggled to gather air in his lungs once more. Master Eraqus sighed lowly before aiming his keyblade towards Terra, a look of pity evident on the mature man's features. "It appears I've failed you as well. May you rest within the light." Master Eraqus stated as he prepared to strike down Terra, Mara cried out to her master. Begging him to have mercy on his student. As Mara ran towards the two men her own keyblade in hand as she dashed. Hoping with all her might she would make it in time.
But Mara was suddenly stopped in her tracks as for a brief moment both Mara and Eraqus could sense the darkness radiating from Terra. Beginning to almost pool around the fallen man's feet before Terra peered up to his master. Hate evident in those blue eyes of his before releasing a loud war cry in the air. The darkness coiling around one another, becoming sharp spikes which stabbed Master Eraqus multiple times. Master Eraqus gasped in pain, watching as the dark spikes slowly retracted themselves from his body. Crimson seeping from the many wounds as Eraqus stumbled to the ground. A sea of red forming around him as he breathed.
"You've fallen....Terra." He whispered into the air, as Mara ran to Master Eraqus's side. Sobbing before her father figure, begging him to remain by their side. All the while Terra himself quietly stood, his gaze lingering on Mara for a mere moment before he took his leave. Ignoring Mara's cries for answers as Mara held onto the lifeless form of her master. Darkness once again making its way into her life. Could she ever truly be happy?
