Terra sucked in a shallow breathe, afraid to look Mara in the eye. Knowing those beautiful eyes of hers would unmask his deception. Reveal to her how truth, that in fact he truly still loved her. For before Mara; Terra only knew the love of family. But with her, and that lovely smile of hers that made Terra's heart melt. He knew that she made him vulnerable, forced Terra into action when he usually would not choose to. But he did it all for her. Terra had infact returned to "Radiant Garden" with a feeling of unease in his heart. Almost as if his heart knew it's other half was in danger. Unable to fight this feeling nor willing to,Terra had stumbled across a horrible scene. Aqua clutching Mara's heart in her grasp for dear life. Her own Keyblade in hand as she tried her best to fend off Vanitas and protect the body and heart of Mara.
A task Aqua could not handle alone, nor was Terra going to stand around while Mara was in danger. Without a second thought Terra jumped into the fray of battle. Ultimately protecting both Mara and Aqua with both their aid. The three Keyblade Warriors stood proud beside one another, full of power and determination to fight Vanitas. And yet the masked boy chose to flee, knowing his chances were very slim with more than one Guardian of Light. Though in his wake Vanitas left unrelenting pain. Pain in the hearts of these so called pure hearted guardians. And at that time specks of darkness formed in everyone of their hearts. Plunging their fates deeper into the dark. With tears streaming down her cheeks, Mara gripped onto Terra arm. Refusing to let him go, let alone listen to these lies he continued to spout.
Mara knew deep down in her heart that the words Terra said we're empty. He meant none of it, and yet even so her own heart ached. Which she was sure Terra's did as well, as Terra found himself gripping onto his own chest. Winding in pain perhaps due to the pain Mara was currently feeling. Biting her bottom lip Mara begged Terra to look her in the eye. Saying she would only believe him if he looked her in the eye. It was a certain quirk Terra had about him. When he was lying, the young man could never look someone in the eye. Especially Mara, who's golden orbs mimicked the brilliance of a rising sun. A warmth that Terra secretly wished he could have all to himself. To not share her with anyone or any worlds ever. It was selfish of him to want this. But what was more selfish was his next actions. As Terra turned to meet Mara's gaze, brimming over with tears. Before the muscular Terra pulled the fragile Mara into his arms. Allowing her to burry her tears and worries in his arms, one last time.
"You've done so much for me, lulling the darkness within me into slumber for a time. But now....those days are over Mara." Terra began now forcing Mara at arms reach, the amber eyes woman hiccuping at his words. All the while Aqua watched the scene unfold before her. It was true that Aqua had always had feelings for Terra. Even before the appearence of Mara. Growing up the two of them had forged a bond. One that Aqua believed would soon lead Terra's heart to her, but it didn't. Instead he chose her. Mara. A newcomer to their war and woes. Someone who had seen so much hardship that much of it was purposely blocked from her memory. In fear that the agony would be too great and tear her apart. Aqua always wished for Terra to fall for her, and yet seeing the pain upon both his and Mara's faces. Aqua couldn't help but to feel deeply saddened by this. For over all Aqua merely wished for Terra and all her family to be happy. And it appeared that being with Mara indeed made Terra happy. And yet here he was trying to push her away from reasons that remain still Abit unclear.
Mara gazed down at her now empty hands from which Terra had left. His eyes to the ground before he spoke looking Mara in the eye as he spoke. Knowing this was the only way to save her from following him into the dark. Terra knew Mara, he knew her love and devotion for him would push her far past her limits. Leaving her in the clutches of darkness and the chance of falling perhaps even further than Terra already had. Just for him. For their love, she would do anything. But Terra could not allow Mara to do this. To give up her light for him. Even if she hated him. Even if it tore him up from the inside out. Even if one day Mara fell for another,Terra would be happy. Knowing that she was alive, and smiling that bright smile of hers for all. Even if Terra was unable to see that brilliance of hers, the memory of their love would forever live in Terra's heart.
He knew he could bear this pain,he only hoped that Mara was able to as well. "We can't do this anymore Mara. It's over, let me go." Terra stated rather coldly, his voice throwing Mara off guard as she hesitantly released his arm. A feeling of hollowness taking over Mara, as tears relentlessly began to fall down her cheeks. Her body trembling at the news, her mind and heart unable to take the news. The heinous lie. It was a lie right? He was joking wasn't he? He wouldn't throw away all that they had been through right? Sensing her instability, Terra quietly began to take his leave. His armor forming on his body, the silent and regretful man took off on his glider into the stars. Leaving Mara in a fit of tears. Stumbling to her knees Mara's blurry vision landed on the ground. A agonizing cry errupting from Mara's lungs. How could he do this to her? How could he leave her like this?
Mara's cry exhoed throughout Radiant Garden stretching across time and space. To the present where Mara was being held captive by Vanitas. Riku stood prepared to face the boy and charged, though he was stopped by the painfilled cry which came from Mara. Her cries something that he couldn't bare a minute longer. Riku knew he had to act. And he would. For her.
