With Sora still slumbering soundly in Mara's arms, a look of true peace upon his face. As the young boy innocently nuzzled his face into Mara's stomach. Just as Ven would always do when he would catch one of his usual naps after training. Mara's tears slowly ceasing as she found herself running her fingers through Sora's brown hair. A small smile now on her face. At the realization that somewhere Ven was out there as well. Waiting for her. And Mara would not give up, she would fight for her family. And bring them all together once more. Just like old times. "This boy Sora...." Mara began now speaking to Riku who drew near. Kneeling down beside Mara, careful to take Sora from her grasp. Though he was unable as Sora himself began to fight him off in his sleep.
Begging to be left alone, clinging onto Mara for dear life though he remained unconscious. Mara then placed her hand on Riku's upper arm, her touch sending a warm sensation through his body. Stopping Riku from his actions as Mara insisted he take a seat before stating "Ven use to hate to be ripped from my arms. It looks like things haven't changed. Though in name and appearence in his heart....this boy is Ven,isn't he?" Mara questioned knowing deep down that her hunch was indeed right. To answer this Riku nodded now taking a seat before a dazzling woman. Watching as she turned from a woman filled with grief to hope before his very eyes. Mara was...unlike any woman Riku had ever met. And it was wonderful, and terrifying. " Sora is special, he connects with people's hearts. It's always been like that for him. Ventus is just one of the many other hearts he shares." Riku said now putting everything in the air. Mara now turning her gaze to the sleeping boy in her arms, stroking his cheek. Causing the lad to smile happily in his sleep.
"It's one of the reasons why Master Yen Sid helped me save you." Riku began as he drew near Mara. His fingers brushing against hers, Mara tensed up Abit at his touch. But Mara allowed this warmth for a moment. It was nice, and made her entire being feel calm. It was a feeling that deep down Mara wished would linger forever. Taking in a shallow breathe Mara allowed Riku to speak further, listening to his words closely. " Mara, your the bridge between Aqua, Terra and Ventus. With you we can save them all, but first we need your help." Riku finished as Mara swallowed back a sob before she spoke "H-How can I help them?" She breathed as the voice of Yen Sid filled the air. "I need you to return the last place you were with Aqua." The voice soon collecting before the three and taking the form of the Great Wizard Yen Sid. Who looked down upon Mara with remorse.
" I know it will be painful for you. But the Keyblade Graveyard is where you must go. There we can perhaps find a Door to Darkness. Only then can we enter the Realm of Darkness and save Aqua." Yen Sid finished as Mara swallowed a large lump in her throat, now seeing why she was chosen first. She was the key to saving the others. This was Mara's chance of redemption. "I-I understand I will return there just....give me a little time please." Mara begged not truly sure she was able to step foot there again so soon. Not yet. "I can only give you two days, Kingdom Hearts will soon be upon us. And we cannot waste anymore time. We need all the Guardians of Light to stand a chance." Yen Sid informed as Mara bit her bottom lip before nodding stating she would be sure to prepare for her journey as soon as she was able.
But watching her demeanor through all this quietly was Riku, who advised perhaps he should go along as well. After all he too hard ties to both Aqua and Terra. Two guiding lights would be better than one. Agreeing to his terms Yen Sid took his leave though he advised Mara put Sora back to bed until the morning. There he hoped to allow everyone to meet one another. Silently nodding Mara hoisted Sora back to his room, with the help of Riku. Mara closing the door behind her, the woman remaining silent since the meeting with Yen Sid. Her silence Abit unnerving to Riku as Mara also kept her gaze fixated to the ground. Her raven locks hiding her face from view,as the surely frazzled woman leaned against the wall. Her back pressed against it, though her right leg was propped against it. A single tear making itself know to the world as she spoke. " Why?" "Aqua is my friend too and I want to help save her. Nothing else to it." Riku informed Mara as he started to walk pass the maiden only to be stopped by her hand which tugged on his arm. "Your a terrible liar, you know that?" She commented as Riku couldn't help but to smile slyly at the woman. As she seemed to know him perhaps more than he knew himself. But how did she know him so well?
"I've been lied to so many times I can pick up even the smallest of lies. And for the first time since our meeting you lied to me." Mara stated her voice almost cold at the end, stinging Riku like a shot to the chest. She knew. She knew he had lied to her. And to him that was what pained him the most, the sure disappointment in her eye. "Mara I'm-" "Don't say your sorry. I've heard that one too many times too." Mara said rather coldly as she walked pass the stunned Riku unsure of what to say next. "I'm not the one you should say sorry to." Mara said before making her way down the hallway. Leaving Riku to silently regret his lie to Mara. Unsure of how their partnership or let alone relationship in general would go. If they had one.
