Memory of the Past Future (Old)

Chapter 6

"W-what happened?"

"Old enemies have returned and are now after the reincarnations of your old friends Blue and Green who are now Sabre and Lucas" Nightmare said.

"Where are we going?" Nightmare had let Rainbow off his back after he woke up a few minutes earlier but kept an arm around him to help support him after the younger almost fell over. As of now they are walking a few feet behind Plague and Dark since Nightmare wanted to explain some things to his old enemy.

"We are taking you three to the Nightmare Dimension, the one place where those two can't reach us without my permission; not that they'll ever get it. We figured it would be a safe place for Sabre and Lucas for the time being"

Nightmare momentarily let go of Rainbow to see if he would be fine walking without any help since he had to get something out of his satchel. When Rainbow seemed fine walking on his own, Nightmare took out a compass then a map, "If we continue at this pace, we'll reach the portal less than an hour, hopefully those two won't wake up any time soon"

"Why are you helping us?" Nightmare stayed silent for a moment before answering.

"That is something I cannot fully explain, we cared for your past and present friends. You may not fully remember, but Dark and Plague were connected to Blue and Green one way or another respectively. The same goes for now, all I can hope is that they don't treat Sabre and Lucas as Blue and Green" Nightmare signed, "As for me, well, I've grown fond of them"

Rainbow let out a sign before asking, "Okay, but what happened to Lucas and Sabre?"

"Well, what do you remember first off?"

"All I remember was when Rift, I think, grab Lucas then Sabre when he was trying to help. Then his did something to Lucas to make him scream, I saw more of my memories, mostly of Green and felt so much anger. It was like with Cliff and Sabre, but instead of seeing Blue, I saw Green. I can't remember anything after seeing my memories."

"Well after you heard Lucas' screams, you shot that fireball at Rift then passed out from the strain your powers had done to your body."

"A-a fireball!? My powers?!" Rainbow asks in shook.

"Yes. It appears when your memories came back, your powers resurfaced with the help of your anger" Nightmare explained

"You mean, I have my powers again?" Rainbow asks hopeful.

"You always had your powers Rainbow. You are a Steve and Steves are born with powers, unlike those humans who stole. As for your powers, they were more than likely.... force away in a way. Sometimes power is pushed away to help heal the body, has yet to surface, or is used to protect others. From my guess, it was the first option" Nightmare smiled slightly, before he let out a long sign, "Just be careful when you use your powers, it has been a while since you last use them so they will stress your body until you get use to them."

"O-okay" Rainbow smiled knowing he still has his powers.

"If it's fine with you I can teach you how to manage your powers again" Nightmare offered.

A huge smile made it's was to Rainbow's face as he nodded frankly. Nightmare chuckle at Rainbow's response, but that big smile turned into a frown. Rainbow froze in his track bringing Nightmare to a stop as well,

"Are they like that because of me?" The younger Steve look at the older with his scared red eyes. The thought of him ever hurting his best friends scared him.

Thankfully Nightmare shook his head, he understood what Rainbow meant by 'them': Sabre and Lucas. "No, you did not cause them any harm. Dark and Plague got them out of the way just in time, but Rift manage to teleport out the way then disappeared with Cliff. Lucas passed out because of the pain from Rift and from a panic attack. Sabre must have passed out due to the stress put on him within a short amount of time."

"Thank goodness. I don't think I could ever forgive myself if I ever hurt either of them" Rainbow let out a happy sign before him and Nightmare started to walk again.

"You three are very close"

"Well yeah, we known each other for-

"Hey Nightmare, how much longer? Lucas is moving a bit." Plague called out as he readjusts his hold on Lucas, avoiding touching his wound.

"And Sabre isn't looking so good" Dark said worried. Sabre has been taking shallow breaths and his face flushed red. Dark was worried that Sabre's wound is infected, and he was coming down with a fever.

The two in the front waited for the other two to catch up to see that both humans were groaning though they were more worried about them developing a fever from the wounds being infected.

Nightmare pulled out his map again.

"About five minutes, two if we hurry. We need to get them through the portal before they wake up" They started to walk, but at a faster pace.

"Why do we need to get there before they wake up?" Rainbow ask not understanding Plague and Nightmare's rush.

"For one thing if they don't get those wounds treated then they'll be in worse condition then they are now" Dark explained before asking, "It's been awhile since either of them had travel through dimensions, right?"

"Um. For Sabre it's been a few months, as for Lucas almost a year." Rainbow said. (I know Lucas just teleport but traveling in the same world and traveling different dimensions are two separate things)

They soon arrived in the middle of a dark forest where an outline of a portal made of a type of stone. From what Rainbow remember when him and the others were in the Nightmare Dimension it was called shadow stone.

"They will go through dimension lag. It's worse for humans than it is for Steves, very worse from what I can recall. If they are asleep then the effects won't last as long and be as bad. If awake then that fever isn't the most of our worries.
Plague, hold on to Lucas tightly. Dark give me the flint and steel. We're going through now. Rainbow you might want to close your eyes when we go through" Everyone complied to what he said.

Nightmare went first while dragging Rainbow with him through, then Plague with Lucas after a few minutes. Dark was about to step through the portal when he heard Sabre let out a gasp. Looking down, he saw that Sabre was awake.

"Sabre? Are you okay?" Dark asked worried.

"Dark?" Dark froze. It was barely a whisper, but Dark heard it clearly, he knows this voice from anywhere, "Dark? Is that really you?"

Dark couldn't find his voice, but when he did, he could only say one word, "Blue"
