Snakes

Law's threat was so well received, even Amanda couldn't find a word to say. At least for about 15 seconds.

"Wow, Law. Are you (f/n)'s bodyguard or something? That sounded serious!"

Law gave her a brief glare as if to say 'I was serious,' but rather he relaxed and gave her a casual shrug. "Who knows."

Before Kid could offer a rebuttal, Macy arrived like a goddess bringing bearings of ramen and udon. The warm inviting aroma of the broth combined with the seasonings on the meat and vegetables inside made your stomach growl and your eyes light up. All of you were momentarily distracted, accepting the dishes passed to you and thanking Macy for her service. Ah, the power of food. It could bring everyone together and shut them all up in an instant.

Law passed you a pair of chopsticks and you swirled your spoon with the noodles, allowing the steam to encompass your face. The hearty chashu stared back at you, surrounded by flecks of green onion, corn, mushroom, bean sprouts, and accompanied by a soft-boiled egg. You couldn't remember the last time you had ramen, and you were still getting used to eating something so substantial for dinner, that you didn't acknowledge anyone else as you took your first bite. Slurping up the noodles with your chopsticks and assistance from the spoon, you wiggled a little in your seat giddily.

"Mmmm, this is just what we needed!" Amanda sighed out in satisfaction. "Especially with that cold front coming through tonight."

You perked up. You didn't bring a coat. Law didn't bring a coat. Great.

You looked at Law who was invested in his spicy ramen like a lion at the kill. Or perhaps a wolf at the kill.

"There are a few clothing stores down the street," you mentioned, looking back over at Amanda who beamed at the idea of shopping again, "we should stop by after dinner."

"Great idea!" Amanda cheered. "I may or may not have purposefully forgotten to tell you about the weather with the hopes we could go shopping together~"

"Wooow." You couldn't help but chuckle, even though she was fully aware how much you disdained the cold - or at least being out in it. But, it'd give you guys something else to do and a chance to walk around a bit.

Kid hadn't said anything for a while, so you glanced over at him. Aside from looks, he was basically mirroring Law, chowing down on his udon like he hadn't eaten in days. You guessed it had to do with their wolf-like appetites, though that was the only thing they seemed to have in common. That and having limitless confidence in themselves.

"You boys sure were hungry," Amanda commented. You both seemed like mice compared to them when it came to eating. But once you picked up your chopsticks again, you found it difficult to put them back down.

A chorus of soft clacking echoed when you all set your chopsticks in finished bowls. Full and a little bit sleepy, you leaned on Law who had his arm around your shoulder as you rubbed his stomach. You could've just fallen asleep right there against your new personal heater.

"So after we get ourselves jackets, where should we go?" Amanda asked, eager to make this night last. She looked to you as if you had the answer to everything, and you shrugged.

"What's open late?" You replied, then remembered it was Saturday, so pretty much everything would be.

Hearing Kid's voice pipe up startled you briefly. "There's a club I could get us into for free. I know the owner personally." That last sentence seemed like unnecessary validation that he was cool, but...free did sound nice.

Plus, being in a club put you in an eclectic world. You could get lost in the music and dance your stress away for a couple of hours, make small talk with random strangers and not have to worry about committing to any of them. But now you had Law. He would protect you from all of them, and those colorful lights reflecting off of his skin would look handsomely ethereal.
