Walking Under the Moonlit Night

I try to make my mark by shining a light to all

But the tattoos of pain and humiliation make me feel small.

I try to be my unique self – my very own brand

But the weights of pressure make me feel it’s out of my hand.

I try to be kind and loving to all I know

But the chains of hate make me feel I should hide in the snow.

But as I turn and take a look shoreward

I know that the hope I have will keep moving me forward.
