It got later and later until it was dark outside. Katie was curled up against me, we had a fire going as well. People were falling asleep. Rick was on guard. I used my jacket as a pillow, Katie used me as one. I fell asleep quickly, Katie didn't. Daryl sat a few feet away leaned up against a tree.
*
The next morning we were on the move again. Carl and Katie walked together. I was walking with Rosita. Daryl wasn't here, he was on a hunt or something. He knew which way we were going though.
"So your kid," Rosita said.
"What about her?" I asked.
"You raised her right, she's tough as hell," Rosita stated.
"Thanks, I think," I laughed slightly.
"It isn't an insult," She laughed a little too. She looked behind us for a second.
"So you and Daryl huh?" She asked raising her eyebrows.
"I think," I replied, "I don't know."
"What do you mean you don't know? Isn't he your baby daddy?"
"What? No. Her bio dad is probably dead," I replied.
"Oh I'm sorry," She said sadly.
"I'm not, he was horrible," I laughed.
"Well you and Daryl are cute together anyways," She smiled.
"I don't think we're really together, we just.... Actually I don't know," I said.
"You should talk to him about it."
"Eh, no."
She groaned and looked behind us again.
"He needs to get the balls to ask you."
"It's not about the balls to do it, maybe he just doesn't want that."
"I doubt that," She half smiled, "It's pretty obvious."
"No," I laughed.
"You guys could be another Tanner, Mason, and Carol story. Tanner told me all about Carol. Carol basically became Mason's mom since they were together."
"Yeah, Daryl would be a great mom ," I joked.
"I meant he could be like her new dad," She laughed playfully punching me.
Our conversation was cut short when we heard brush rustle. Everyone turned, weapons raised. Daryl came out, he sarcastically held his hands up.
"I surrender," He said sarcastically joining up with the group.
Rosita wiggled her eyebrows, I rolled my eyes and laughed. Daryl talked to Rick for a bit.
"Everyone stay close," Rick whisper yelled. We heard a man yelling for help a few minutes later.
"Dad, come on, come on," Rick pleaded. We all ran in the direction. A man was on a big rock, walkers surrounding him. Carl shot one. I stabbed one, Katie stabbed one. The others all got one. Until all the walkers were dead.
"Keep watch," Rick commanded as the guy came down. Once he was down, he vomited a lot.
"Sorry," The man apologized, he looked like a priest. He had the clothes of one. He was bald, dark-skinned, with brown eyes. He looked scared, really scared.
"Do you have any weapons on you?" Rick asked. He laughed slightly.
"Does it look like I have weapons on me?"
"We don't give two short and curlies what it looks like," Abraham spoke up.
"I have no weapons of any kind, I'm Gabriel. The word of god is the only protection I need."
