CHAPTER 16

I was so stupid to think that George will follow me when in the side of my eyes, he literally saw me leave. Katangahan, iyon lang ang nasa isip ko habang nasa likod ako ng sasakyan. Of course, Dale! For Pete's sake he's with his brother, knowing that his family doesn't even know a thing about us, it would be suspicious kung susundan niya ako!

But then, I can't hide the bitterness and disappointment. Lalo na at nakita ko siyang gulat, why then? Was it because of his lame alibi that I believed in? Or was it because he's not expecting me to see him with his brother?

I shrugged that thought when we finally arrived at home, nauna akong bumaba at hindi na hinintay si Aster na pagbuksan pa ako. They were just quiet about it too, but I know that my brothers saw it too.

"May gagawin ka?" Comet asked me, tinanaw ko siya habang binubuksan ko ang gate.

"Bakit? I think I have to read something..." He looked at me suspiciously. Si Aster ay napangisi lang.

"Katatapos lang ng exam ah?" Our little brother countered.

Last December, we had the first half of the third grading examination. Last week, we took the second half. Wala na talaga kaming gagawin kung hindi ang ibang schoolworks and of course, the foundation week.

"Comet, what do you want?" I asked, wala na rin naman akong ipapalusot pa sa kanya. Tonight, I just want to keep myself busy in my office so I can meditate from what happened earlier.

"We'll have a long quiz in Mathematics, can you help me?" Ah, yes! Teachers loves to drop a bomb just so we can be distracted in preparing for the other week. Kill joy sila, iyon lang 'yon.

"Mathematics? And do you really need my help? I think you're way too better than me and Aster combined." Nawala ang ngisi ni Aster at sumipsip sa milktea. Comet, on the other hand, seems to like that compliment.

"Alright, let's have a play review then. Habang hinihintay sina Tita, game ba?" Hamon ni Aster, I smirked as I nodded.

"Bibihis lang ako!" Comet exclaimed.

Tinalikuran ko na sila at tuluyang pumasok sa bahay, tumuloy ako sa aking kwarto at kaagad na nag-shower. Bukod sa mainit, nag-iinit din ang dugo ko. I need to convince myself that George ignored me because his brother is there at wala ng iba!

But then again, it was as if someone is whispering to me. Para bang sinasabi nito na may mas malawak at mas malalim pang dahilan kung bakit niya ginawa iyon. I don't want to fucking overthink about it, I just need to talk to George personally.

Mahal niya ako. The thought of it somehow calm me and comforts me.

Lumabas na ako at nagbihis, I'm wearing my pajama. Tumanaw ako sa labas at madilim na, nang makababa ako ay binuksan ko na ang mga ilaw. I sat in the sofa while waiting for the two, binuksan ko ang aking cellphone at bumungad ang text ni Mama sa akin.

Sinabi nito na sumabay na raw akong kumain kina Mommy mamaya marahil ay baka gabihin sila sa daan. I replied and told her that I will. Nahagip ng mata ko ang palitan namin ng texts ni George, hindi man lang siya nag-text! Well, I still won't reply even if he text me first.

"Shall we, my dearest sister?" Napatingin ako kay Aster, nakapajama na rin ito at terno pa. Akala mo talaga hindi college student, he looks like a boy and not a man.

"Asaan na si Comet?"

"Ewan, baka nagrereview. Nagkakabisa ng formula... Comet on another series of being competitive, I would say?" Parehas kaming natawa sa kanyang sinabi, ibinaba ko ang phone at kinalimutan na lang ang iniisip kanina.
