Chapter 34

In a matter of days my upside down life was now back on track. Not as much as I imagined but well on the way.

I had no job and was close to being homeless.

My father snuck behind my mother's back and had been paying my rent, he said he knew I would come home because he'd prayed so much. Guess his prayers came true, only horrible part was he was only able to pay it until this month. Funny how fate works.

I really didn't know where to start let alone how. But the fact that this ordeal was over was still surreal.

The first stop was my mother's home, power and Allure went straight to nap after my mother and father greeted me along with Jason, I was accosted by Rick and Angela.

"We need to talk if you have a moment." Rick spoke as I followed him on the back porch where Angela awaited with her poker face.

"I'm going to start paying you guys back as soon as I get this whole job straightened out."

"It's not about the job, it's about Allure." Rick corrected in a firm tone.

My eyes trickled over to Angela who was now glaring at me as if she despised the very sight of me.

I was floored to even believe we were having this conversation. Before I could even speak rick went on.

"Considering your circumstances and arrangements, we feel she'll be better in our care."

"Your care?" I repeated softly.

"Yes, now I know this is a bad time. But you should look at it from the perspective of having her best interest at heart. Right now you need to focus on power and yourself you've both been threw a lot and in order to get back to a stable state of mind, we are going to file for temporary custody."

It felt as if a ax had be plowed into my back and someone was stepping on it deepening the pain.

"You think you're doing me a favor? Trying to take my baby away from me? Don't insult my intelligence, the two of you will never—-ever have her in your custody. That's over my dead body!"

"Well the proceedings will be filed soon, we'll let the judge make the decision. You'll thank us for this in the long run Madison, your shock and anger is to be expected but this is to be expected."

My brain was running a mile a minute but the words I wanted to say just wouldn't come out. Instead I exhaled and walked away.

"It's time to go!" I rushed in exclaiming to power and Allure who were conversations with my parents.

"What's going on Madi?" Asked my father confused.

"That son of a bitch and his wife are trying to take my baby away from me!" I had lost it screaming to the top of my lungs with tears racing down my face.

"Rick?"  My dad questioned confused.

"Yes—." My mother answered before anyone. "I don't think it's such a bad idea Madison, I've already arranged for you and power to begin therapy in the next week."

"You're against me!"  I snapped.

"No ones against you Madison, this is for the best, it's only temporary!"

"You see dad, she hates me she wanted me to rot in hell to allow those son of a bitches to have my children! That will NEVER happen EVER!"

"Alright what is going on here, everyone needs to calm down!" My father yelled trying to diffuse the situation.

"Terry Madison's just a little hysterical, she's been threw enough. Killing a man let alone in front of your son is horrifying. Which is why rick and Angela are nice enough to help us out even more by taking custody of Allure for the time being until she is better."

"BETTER FROM what? Are you sick?!" I huffed pasting the room.

"Kathie this isn't your decision Madison is an adult you have to allow her to make her own decisions." My father defended.

"Oh hell TERRY this is why she's the way she is because of you! Always making excuses and running to her got damn rescue when she screws up! She's been raped and killed a man for heaven sakes! Some one else needs to take control of her life before she makes another huge mistake that YOU CANT FIX!"

Rick and Angela entered through the patio.

"Kathie you are treading on thin Ice! Leave it alone, she has been threw enough she doesn't need reminders."

"Oh Damn you Terry here we are again defending Madison because you can see her doing no wrong, well wake the hell up, she's not your innocent little girl anymore she has made mistakes just like everyone in this room!"

"That's not for you to judge or decide Kathie!"

"Listen! Rick will be an outstanding father to Allure if she would give him the chance! Angela has turned to God and her and I have prayed and prayed everyday until she has become able to accept Allure as hers and love her without hate! Due to OUR precious daughter carrying on an affair with Rick. And she's not totally at fault but got damn it we are All mending our mistakes."

The entire room went silent as my mother spewed those words like venom covering the entire house.

My dads emotions of utter shock and disappointment plastered his face as he softly called out, "Madison—- Rick? Is this true?"

Rick coughed nervously, "yes sir, it is. We both made a mistake that turned out to be a blessing. It was never my intentions to hurt my wife or misuse Madison at a time of my weakness. Let alone you mr.Terry, but I want to step up to the task of being the father Allure needs and helping Madison as much as I can by co parenting."

My father closed his eyes exhaling trying to take this all in.

"I have to go."

"We didn't make a mistake you bastard YOU DID!" I exclaimed disgusted at Ricks answer as if he were innocent.

My father stopped in his footsteps.

"Madison ricks trying to be the father you continually refuse to let him be, it's not fair to Madison. He is a married man I forgive you but I can't continue to have you disrespect him and our marriage!"

"FUCK your marriage, you're married to a rapist! Who drugged and raped me while I was under the influence!"
