Wynonna sat in the armchair in her living room, whiskey glass in hand, staring into the fire. She never thought her daughter would be in danger so soon after getting her back.

She chuckled to herself before taking a sip of her drink, Alice was an Earp by blood, that alone attracted danger.

She let out a sigh and relaxed further into the chair.

"May I join you?"

"It's your house too. Do what you want."

Doc tilted his head to the side as he sat on the sofa next to the chair Wynonna was sat in.

"May I?" He asked gesturing the other whiskey glass and the bottle of whiskey.

"What did I just say?"

"Alright. What's on your mind? You're being an ass to me. I haven't done anything wrong." Doc said as he unscrewed the cap of the bottle and poured himself a drink.

"I'm sorry. It's...It's Alice. I never planned on losing her and I never planned on having her in immediate danger as soon as I found her again. It's just...I've never experienced this before. Not like this. Sure, I felt it when Nicole got bit. When Waverly got taken but I knew that everything would be okay. But this? This is different because I don't know my own daughter. I don't know how she thinks, sometimes she says or does something and I'm like yeah, she's an Earp...But...But then sometimes, I don't know her. I don't understand her and I really want to. But its so hard."

Doc leaned forward, placing his arms on his legs. "What are you feeling Wynonna?"

"Honestly? Hopeless. I can't protect my own daughter. I can't protect my own flesh and blood. I mean it makes sense...I couldn't protect my Dad...I couldn't protect Willa...Everyone that's my family gets hurt. You, Waverly, Nicole...And now Alice. How long until you all leave me? Just like Dad and Willa."

"It's never gonna happen. I promise you." Doc quickly got on his knees in front of Wynonna. He took the whiskey glass out of her hand and placed it on the coffee table. He grabbed her hands and held them tightly. "I will not let any harm come to our daughter. I will not let any harm come to Waverly, Nicole...Or you. Wynonna, I love you."

"I love you too." Wynonna replied as tears filled her eyes. "I'm just so tired of everyone I care about getting hurt. I'm barely dealing with Waverly getting shot. I don't know what I'd do if you or Alice got hurt...Or worse."

"Well let's not think about that. It won't happen."

"You can't promise though can you?"

"Oh but I certainly can." Doc smiled. "I, John Henry Holliday promise you Wynonna Earp that Alice Michelle Earp Swan-Jones will not come to any harm and we will not leave you. Neither will Waverly, Nicole, Dolls and Jeremy but they've already told you that."

Wynonna smiled and leaned forward, pressing her lips against Doc's. She pulled away, resting her hand on his cheek. She stroked it gently, falling more in love with him.

Suddenly, he fell backwards, coughing up blood.

"Doc?! Doc?!" Wynonna fell forward too, holding his head in her hands. "Stay with me Doc. You said you wouldn't get hurt, you promised."

She closed her eyes, trying to stop the non stop flowing tears. When she opened her eyes again, she came face to face with a man covered in scales, a grin upon his face.

"If you do not do exactly what I tell you, this will be your future." Is all he said before the lights went out.

When they came back on, Wynonna was on her back and there was a concerned Doc leaning over her.

"What happend?" She asked sitting up slowly.

"You passed out. You feeling okay?" Doc asked as he helped her stand up.

"Yeah." Wynonna nodded, but that was a lie.

She was confused, she was worried but more importantly...She felt something she hadn't felt in a long time.

Fear.
