Jamila's P.O.V.

One Month Later

I looked at the floor as the group yelled back and forth.

It's been a whole month since...she's been gone.

"Look just go and check Sprint, track her phone, do something!" Nia said to Adri.

"They won't let me do anything Nia! Stop fucking yelling at me before we have a problem."

I shook my head going into the kitchen to get a bottle of water.

That day will forever play in my mind. Not a second goes by when I don't think about that moment.

That kiss...

She's been gone since that day without a trace left. We've done everything and have come up with no solution.

Of course, I was the last one she talked to before leaving. She hasn't been in contact with anyone else.

It's like she's fallen off the face of the earth. No social media posts. No text messages. No phone calls. Nothing.

For all we know, she's probably kidnapped. But that couldn't be the case, seeing as she knew she was gonna disappear.

I miss her. Not because of the kiss but because everyone's worried about her. I'm worried about her.

"Jamila." I jumped as Ryan rubbed my arm. "You okay?"

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine."

"She'll be okay. We'll find her."

I gave her a small smile, nodding. She hugged me before grabbing my hand, leading me to the backyard.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd think they were sisters." She said laughing.

"Yeah, they argue a lot."

"But that's just how it goes with them. Good days, bad days. They both cherish each other dearly. It's sweet."

I sat down, looking back at the house seeing them continue to argue through the glass patio door.

"They've been like this forever. If something happens to one of the three amigos, it's hell."

I fiddled with my fingers sighing. "I just wish she'd call. Or leave a message. Anything."

"Maya's never disappeared before. I just pray she's okay."

I sighed, she laid her head on my shoulder.

"Come on, let's go get something to eat."

"Not that hungry Ryan."

"Girl, you haven't eaten in days. I'm not going to let you starve yourself."

"Fine. Can we at least get some Chinese food? I've been in a mood for eggrolls."

"Anything for you. Let's go." She grabbed her phone off the lawn chair as we both got up and headed back inside.

"We're going to the Chinese joint down on Saints Avenue. You two coming or are y'all gonna argue the whole time?" Ryan said folding her arms across her chest.

Adri grabbed her book bag. "I've gotta shift in twenty so I'll see you guys tomorrow morning." She gave us both a hug, giving Nia a cold stare.

I sighed knowing Nia wasn't coming. She hadn't been out of the house since last month.

"You guys go ahead, I'm finna head to the hospital and check on Aunt Linda. Y'all have fun." She grabbed her bandanna, walking us to the door locking up behind us.
