Jamila's P.O.V.
I laid back on my bed in fatigue. My last shift was tiring and I was beyond ready to fall into a deep slumber.
Things were picking up around the store so more people were coming in and out of the store at all times. Great for business, tiring for me.
My phone buzzed as I groaned, looking at the caller i.d before answering the call. On the other end were sobs and Trey Songz playing in the background.
"Hello," I said trying to pull my thoughts together.
"I messed up Jamila, I really messed up."
I sighed as Dakota continued to cry on the receiving end. "What'd you do?"
"Adriana's done with me. She hasn't answered my calls, my text messages, nothing."
I sat up in my bed so that I can listen to him better.
"Once again, what the heck did you do to her? Actually, start from the beginning. I'm interested."
"She invited me over to her apartment because she was feeling sad and stuff about Maya right? But then we fell asleep side by side and she woke up seeing a hickey on my neck."
I choked on air trying to grasp everything. "Hickey?!? From who?"
"You know - my professor."
I sighed looking at the ceiling. I felt really bad not telling Adriana about Dakota's professor and I felt like I was betraying her in a way.
"Well Dakota you should give her some time and then tell her the truth."
"Truth?"
"Yes the truth. Tell her how she's been blackmailing you all this time and how you don't want any of it to reflect on your relationship with her."
There was silence from his end. "But I like her, sorta."
"Explain."
"I mean - my professor'a smart, beautiful, and is very appealing to the eye. She keeps me guessing on her next move and what she's thinking and I-"
"Okay stop!" I pinched the bridge of my nose. "So you like her and Adri?"
"I guess so, yeah. But me and her could never have the connection me and Adriana have."
"Look Dakota, I love you but you've messed up bad and drug me into the situation. Now I feel bad because every time Adriana talks about you, you're somewhere thinking about your professor."
"What should I do? I really like her Mila."
"If you like her enough, you'd give her some time and space to think. Pull yourself together and tell her the truth before I do."
I heard him sniff and sigh. "Fine. Thanks for the advice sis."
"Hey, what are sisters for - right?" We laughed.
"Get some rest, I know you just got off work and shit."
"Yesss oh my gosh you would not believe the day I've had. This one lady kept asking me to go find these shirts for her son and then she-"
Dial tone. Classic Dakota. I listen to your problems while you hang up on mine. Asshole.
I went into my drawers and got some night clothes before taking a long, overdue shower and getting into my bed.
