Maya's P.O.V.
I parked the Benz and walked up the sidewalk to this decent house in Greenwood Heights. Mind you, I grew up in Williamsburg so I never came on this side of town often. Me and my mom stayed on our side of town a lot, but I still remember a lot about my few visits here.
I fixed my shirt as I stood on the front porch. As I stood there wondering if I should knock or not, I heard laughing and screaming coming from the backyard.
I turned around and thought that maybe this wasn't the right choice, I was starting the walk to my car when the door swings open.
Alejandro stood there shirtless in some basketball shorts and slides smiling.
"Family, thought you'd never show. Come on in, everyone's around the back."
I nodded as I walked back up the porch and through the house. On the inside were empty bottles of liquor everywhere.
There were people coming down the stairs and even some on the couch doing unspeakable things that I wish I could unsee.
"So who lives here?" He looked back at me and smiled.
"Just me. A few friends came over last night for a party, but this is just the remaining crew. The real turn up is tonight!"
As he said that, we walked out onto the back porch and everyone cheered at his appearance.
"Family, this is mí family. Introduce yaself young buck."
I laughed awkwardly as he nudged me forward. I looked over to see some people playing Uno, some were in the pool, others were smoking and drinking on the patio.
"Maya, nice to meet y'all." I waved as he rubbed my shoulder laughing.
"Aye this my blood cousin so if any of y'all mu'fuckers got a problem with her, you gone see me. Also, ladies, I heard she's single."
A few of the girls in the pool started smirking as I smiled at their excitement. I wouldn't be single if I hadn't left, but it was for the greater good.
"Alright, y'all make scarce. Clean up on y'all way out, me and my cousin got some catching up to do. Be back at eight for the party."
Everyone dropped what they were doing and cleaned up around them before leaving out the back gate.
He led me to the Uno table and gestured for me to sit down.
"So what's been going on?"
"Nothing much really. Just came down to visit, I missed home."
"Bueno, siempre tienes un primo aquí. Plus I miss kicking it with you. It's been a while."
Trans.: "Well you've always got a home here cousin."
"Thanks Alejandro."
"Come on now Maya, you know I prefer Tesoro. That's my nickname around here."
"Alright Tesoro." I laughed thinking why would anyone want to call him treasure? "You work?"
"I have my little side hustles. After high school that education shit went down the drain, that's when I came and got this little spot."
"It's nice."
"Yeah me and the landlord are cool so I stay here for mad cheap."
"Dang must be nice."
"Yeah, but where you stay now?"
