Luna's absence was a big impact in the office because she was the best at her job there. Matthew was forced by his boss to hire another police detective to take Luna's place because they needed help. He went out far and hired the best police detective in town.

"Hello. My name is Lucas. Nice to meet you all. I'll be working with you from now on. Hope we'll get along." the new recruit said, holding onto his backpack.

Everybody greeted him and stared at him in awe because of his beauty. They were confused as to why would he chose this career when he could've been a model easily. But little did they knew, he chose this life because he hated all of the attention he was getting just for his looks.

They didn't care about whether he was smart or knew anything. They just cared about his face. He got countless offers to be a model but he didn't accept them because he knew better that beauty didn't last forever.

After just one week of working, he already solved 10 minor cases which were an accomplishment for everybody in the office. He was praised by the boss and all of the others. Because of his competence, the boss hired him as a full-time worker in Matthew's team.

"Is there anything new in the office? Anything happened?" Luna asked Elijah, munching on some hospital snacks.

She felt better now. Her wound wasn't fully healed but she didn't felt as much pain as at the beginning even though she was taking painkillers.

"Well, there is something new" he answered. He didn't know how to tell her that Lucas replaced her. Telling her that everybody loved him would be a big mistake, so he chose to skip that.

"What?" she asked, curiously.

"Um... Because there was a lot of work, somebody had to replace you aaaand... theyhiredthebestpolicedetectiveintown" Elijah quickly explained.

Luna raises her eyebrows."They...they did what?"

"It was boss's idea. Plus we were really falling behind on solving more cases and you know Matthew. He wants to have the best team" he said, blaming Matthew for everything.

"Okay...okay. Everything is fine. I'll be back in a couple of days and everything will go back to normal" she let out a breath to calm herself down.

"Well, actually... They hired him as a full-time worker because he's really good at it." Elijah mumbled.

"It's okay. If he's good then he'll be of help for the team" she calmly said.

After precisely three days, Luna was discharged from the hospital and she was ready to start working again. She was feeling way better and chirpier than before. She didn't feel threatened by Lucas at all, but she had to stand her ground.

Like any other day, she woke up, got ready for work and went to Elijah's house to wake him up.

Because Elijah got used to not being woken up by her, when she arrived he was already up on his feet, getting ready.

"Did you missed going to work?" Elijah asked, getting into the car.

"A little bit. It was boring at the hospital when you weren't there, but I really needed that rest" she answered, getting the car into gear.

"Well, the one good thing that came from all of it is that you had the best rest this year" Elijah chuckled.

"Yeah" Luna smiled.

When they arrived at work everybody was busy working on a new robbery case that happened last night.

"Welcome back Luna" Matthew cheered. Everybody looked at her and started greeting her and asking her numerous questions. But her eyes were fixed on one man in the office. Lucas.

After a while, he noticed that somebody was looking at him and lifted his eyes from his computer to be eye to eye with Luna.

"Hello. My name is Lucas. I'm the new recruit" he politely said, extending his arm to greet her.

"I know who you are. I'm Luna" she eyed him suspiciously, shaking his arm.  She sat at her desk,   did that gesture with her index finger and middle finger, giving him the 'I'm watching you' look.

Elijah noticed this and had to intervene so he slid his chair next to Lucas.

"Uh, she's the one you were replacing when you came here. Don't worry. You'll grow on her" he whispered to Lucas. Lucas just nodded and smiled.

Lucas thought that it was going to be fun working with her.
