"Hey party animal! How are you holding up?" Matthew said, standing next to Luna's desk.
She looked around and got closer to him "Did they film me?" she whispered.
"What do you think?" he asked and started mimicking her singing when they were at the karaoke bar.
He really liked joking with his coworkers even though he was going overboard sometimes.
"Shit" she put her hands on her head recalling everything that happened.
"EVERYBODY GET BACK TO WORK" their boss shouted coming into the office.
Matthew quickly returned to his desk, scarred.
Luna snapped her head up and shuffled the papers on the desk pretending to work as Elijah continued with his work, pretending like his boss isn't here.
He was used to this because it happened almost every day.
"He's cranky today" Elijah whisper-commented.
"Yeah, he is" Luna eyed their boss as he walked away to his office after shouting.
She hated it when their boss was pissed and they didn't know why. But even though he was scolding them he wouldn't do anything else because they're the best team in the whole police department.
"Oh thank god he left" Matthew said and put a hand on his heart to calm him down "I thought he would scream at us about Friday night"
"He doesn't even know. Plus why can't we just have fun?" Elijah asked.
"Okay guys, focus" Luna said looking at her computer "There is a new case about a high school student. He died on the 25th of May, so yesterday. It's assumed that It's a suicide but there are suspicion that it was a homicide." she explained.
"Alright then, lets get on it" Elijah said getting up.
They went to the crime scene, the school where the crime was held at. There were tapes and an outline of a figure on the ground painted in white, where the body of the victim was.
"Were there any evidences from the autopsy about it being a homicide or a suicide?" Elijah asked the pathologist that does the autopsy.
"Actually yes. I just came back from examining the body and it shows that there was a struggle. As you can see here, he has bruises on his hands. He probably was trying to escape or maybe he was tied." the pathologists pointed at the pictures from the victim.
The victim was lying in a fetal position on the floor, covered in blood on his head but there were no signs of homicide except for the hands.
"Okay so, it wasn't a suicide" Elijah confirmed his suspicions.
"Do we have any evidences about who did this to him? Maybe like a rope or something?" Luna asked piping in.
"I'm afraid we do not. But maybe if we look around more we can find something" Matthew answered.
After they examined the crime scene thoroughly they went back to their office to continue the investigation.
"Ugh. This is so frustrating" Luna said as she rubbed her face with her hands.
They were looking at the CCTV in front of the school for over an hour and they didn't find anything.
"We'll find something, don't worry" Elijah comforted her.
He too was tired but they had to find some kind of an evidence.
After long two hours, something caught Luna's eye "Wait wait wait wait."
"What? Did you find something?" Elijah asked curiously, going to Luna's desk.
Matthew wanted a break so he went into the break room to get some rest.
"Yeah, look at this" Luna said rewinding the video.
The murderer was caught burying his weapon in the ground, but only a portion of his back and a very blurry weapon was showing. It was enough to call it an evidence tho.
"Yes! We got him" Elijah cheered.
"What? What happened?" Matthew showed up out of nowhere.
"We caught the murderer hiding the weapon" Elijah said pointing to the screen.
"Okay. What are we waiting for? Let's go to get the evidence" he said rubbing his hands together.
As they arrived at the crime scene, they dug out the murder weapon and sent it to get checked for fingerprints.
While they waited for the results, they went back in their office because the crime scene wasn't far.
Matthew dug out a deck of cards from his pocket and started doing magic tricks.
Luna and Elijah just stared at him blankly trying not to holler with laughter.
Matthew noticed them and responded to their reactions twirling the cards in his hands "What? Isn't it fun?"
"You have a new hobby, huh?" Luna asked, amused, cocking an eyebrow and crossing her arms.
Matthew had a new hobby every weekend. One weak he would show up knitting a sweater, other painting, next doing magic tricks. It changed so often because he would get bored of everything in a week.
"Yes. Yes I do" he said, almost dropping the cards.
Elijah started laughing and Luna soon joined in.
After they finished laughing the results came in.
"Okay let's get to work and stop joking around" Luna said, as the most responsible in the office.
They looked through the files and found the murderer right away. He also had a few warnings about verbal harassment of the opposite gender.
