"Welcome to our new office" Lucas said, walking into a room, carrying a box of supplies.
He bought a small room so they can start their business there. He had a plan since the beginning. He always wanted to have his own police department. Now, he has it with a little help from his girlfriend.
"It's ours. Mine and yours" Lucas said as he snaked an arm around Luna's waist, hugging her.
"This was your plan? Are you sure it's gonna work with just the two of us?" Luna asked a little skeptically.
"Not just the two of us" Lucas said as he stepped back to reveal Matthew and Elijah.
"Did you really think I'm going to leave you alone?" Elijah smirked, walking past Luna.
"Boss annoyed me anyway" Matthew swung his hand mid-air and grinned.
They started unpacking the supplies and making the office look like an actual office.
"I can't believe this." Luna sighed in disbelief. "I just quit my job and now we own an office?"
"Yes, yes we do. " Lucas smiled, putting an arm around her shoulder and looking around.
"And quite a nice office may I say" Matthew added "When I first joined my other work, it was smaller than this"
"Well, what can I say. I'm experienced" Lucas smirked.
They started working on a case right away. It was a small case, but one nonetheless.
Lucas' cousin had a little problem with school bullies so his mother decided to sue them and it grew into even a bigger problem. Lucas had to step in to help.
As they were immersed in work, somebody knocked on the door.
"Come in" Lucas lifted up his head.
Their old boss walked in. He looked around and nodded.
"How can we help?" Luna asked, confused. What did he want from them now? They didn't work for him anymore.
"I'm impressed. I didn't know Lucas was this smart" he remarked.
Lucas smirked.
"Yes, I didn't either" Luna said annoyed and stood up. Why was he here?
"I actually came to ask you to come back" he said, putting his hands in his pockets.
Luna and Lucas looked at each other. They weren't planning on coming back.
"What about the ''no dating'' rule?" Luna asked, crossing her arms.
"I'll think about it" he answered.
"I still don't approve of what you did" Matthew added.
"I know, it wasn't good but that is the rule. I need to keep my strict personality while at work or you'll get too loose"
"Nope, I don't believe you. I won't come back" Elijah said, getting back to his seat.
"Me too" Luna added and sat down too.
"Sorry boss" Matthew tapped his shoulder and went to his desk.
The boss looked at Lucas expectantly but he kept quiet.
"Lucas? You're the last one" he said.
"Hmmm... What if... Yeah okay. You'll terminate the no dating rule. How about the paycheck? Why is it below minimum wage? Are the workers your slaves or?" Lucas shifted on his foot and looked out the window "I can see you drive a nice car. I wonder where did the money come from for it. And how can so ill tempered and a rude boss exist? You don't care about your coworkers. You just care about making money"
"I'm sorry Lucas but I can't do that. You know that the contract you signed when you started working here said that you're not allowed to ask for raises unless you've been promoted. But, maybe I can bend the rule for you since you're the best. And... I'm sorry but I can't change my personality. It's just who I am"
"Because of your personality, I won't go back to work. You just use people. What did you think I bought an office for? Just to get back to you?" Lucas said and got back to his desk. He wanted to rub it in his face.
"I tried" The boss sighed and left.
"Yikes" Luna said, raising her eyebrows.
"He seemed desperate" Elijah added.
"Yeah, the best team left. I can guess how he feels" Matthew chuckled without an ounce of compassion.
"I'm glad nobody went." Lucas smiled.
"I wouldn't go if he gave me million dollars. He was really an asshole." Matthew said.
"Yeah, I agree" Elijah sighed.
As the months passed, their work bloomed and they became very successful. The cases kept coming in when everybody learned that Lucas worked there.
Their office later became a building which became a big corporate building, making Luna and Lucas owners of a big police department. People flooded in to work for them. Everybody praised them. They even became bigger than their old police department.
Elijah eventually got over Luna and got himself a girlfriend.
Matthew was still single.
Luna and Lucas lived their love life in peace, not hiding from anyone.
