Lunar Eclipse

Chapter 12

The four of them arrived at a bar near their office.

"What are you doing here? You didn't do anything for the investigation" Elijah said to Matthew.

"I formed the team. Plus Luna invited me over because you two didn't want to come" he moved his head towards Lucas.

Elijah just rolled his eyes and drank his drink. He felt jealous of him for the thing that happened earlier. He needed to learn to control his feelings in front of other people. 

Lucas was turned towards the dance podium, looking at all of the people dancing. He didn't know how to dance but he always wanted to learn. When he was a kid, he always acted in some kind of school plays where he danced and sang.

"What are you looking at" Luna joined in.

"Nothing" he cleared his throat and adjusted on his chair.

At that moment, Luna noticed that he started moving his shoulders to the beat. She wasn't the type to start dancing first but now she just wanted to have fun and relax.

"Come on, let's dance" she said and grabbed his hand.

Lucas was taken aback by her gesture and had no choice but to follow it. He jumped out of his chair and found himself on the dance floor.

Luna was right beside him moving her hips to the beat. He stared at her, not doing anything. He thought of how her hair kept moving everywhere while dancing, how her smile formed, how her eyes shined, lighted by the various lights.

"Come on! Dance. I saw you moving in your chair. I know you want to" she smirked.

He just chuckled, relaxed and started moving to the beat together with Luna.

As their bodies moved to the beat, Elijah was in deep conversation with Matthew about the problems of the world to notice them.

After one song, the alcohol they were drinking started to kick in and they started dancing sloppily. They got close to each other, Luna wrapping her arms around Lucas' neck and swayed to the beat.

Lucas moved his head closer towards Luna and started to breathe heavily from all of the dancing. Luna stopped and looked him in the eyes. 

The tension building up at the same time as the beat getting louder and louder made Luna's heart beat faster. Their faces were inches apart. Lucas looked at her lips and thought about how they were so beautiful. 

Luna, with her thoughts scrambled and alcohol influence, started moving forward, touching his cheeks. He then got the courage and slammed his lips onto hers. She responded instantly, closing her eyes and moving her lips against his. 

Both with their thoughts all jumbled, felt their chemistry building up. As soon as they broke their kiss, they both looked at each other and widened their eyes. They backed away quickly and an awkward tension started to form.

"I-I need to go to the bathroom" Luna quickly said and scurried towards the bathroom.

"Yeah, I need a drink" he said and scratched the back of his neck while turning towards the drinks in the opposite direction from the bathrooms.

"Hey, where were you? Where's Luna?" Matthew asked as soon as Lucas came back with a drink.

Lucas downed the whole drink in one shot.

"I don't know" he said after putting the drink down.

Luna came back from the bathroom and sat far away from Lucas, clearing her throat.

"What's up with you two?" Matthew asked and pointed towards them.

"Nothing" they both said simultaneously.

Elijah noticed it too and poked Luna in her side.

"What's wrong?" he whispered.

"Nothing, I'm just suddenly tired" she lied.

"Are you sure?" he asked again.

"Yeah." she said "I got to go, guys, see you tomorrow at work" she bolted out of there quickly. She needed to clear her thoughts and sober up for tomorrow.

"Hey, wait for me!" Elijah shouted, following her.

Matthew looked at Lucas and Lucas just raised his shoulders.

"I need to go home too," he said and stood up "see you tomorrow"

"What's wrong with everybody?" Matthew asked rhetorically.

He continued to drink his drink and moved his head to the beat. He didn't want to go home yet, so he stayed more to dance.
