Lunar Eclipse

Chapter 18

"Did you find anything?" Elijah called Lucas in case he found some clue leading to where Luna is.

"Nope, not yet. I'll keep searching. You?" he asked. He searched for two hours now.

He asked people around if they've seen her but nobody knew who she was.

"No, but I have an area where I still haven't searched" he put a hand on his hips looking around. There were a lot of restaurants around but they all said that they were closed then.

"Alright, search that. We'll meet up later" Lucas said and hung up.

Looking around, Lucas chose to go towards more remote paths thinking she could've taken a shortcut.

He saw some homeless people roaming around and noticed one of them was wearing something familiar. He recalled the night and what was Luna wearing.

"It's Luna's sweater" he whispered.

"Excuse me" he called the man wearing the sweater.

The man turned around and looked at him weirdly.

"Um...I'm sorry to bother you but where did you find that sweater?" Lucas asked politely.

The homeless man kept looking at him and just turned around, not answering.

Lucas figured he needed to give him something to get answers so he took out his wallet.

"I can't believe I'm doing this" he quietly said under his breath.

"Excuse me. Can you answer the question now?" Lucas asked and extended his hand with the money in it. 

The homeless guy looked at him and debated for a while but then he decided to answer it.

"It was on the ground a couple of days ago" he nonchalantly said, quickly taking the money and turning the other way, getting back to what he was doing.

"Can you tell me exactly where?" Lucas smiled, thinking the smile would ease up the awkwardness.

The man looked at his wallet. Lucas' annoyed face came back and rolled his eyes. He took out more money from his wallet, giving them to him.

"Right there" the homeless man pointed towards the sidewalk satisfied with the outcome of answering the questions.

"Thanks" Lucas turned towards it and started looking around. He saw a CCTV camera in front of one of the shops near there. He hoped that the CCTV reached the area where the man pointed.

Suddenly, he saw red marks on the ground. It looked like dried up blood. His heart sunk in his chest, thinking it was Luna's.

He calmed himself down by thinking maybe all of this was just a coincidence, but this gut feeling was telling him otherwise. 

He called Elijah and Matthew to update them on the situation and they quickly went back to the office. While talking to them he took a sample of the dried up blood and sent it to the laboratory to figure out if it was hers.

While looking at the CCTV footage they saw what actually happened.

"Why would someone do such a thing? Why her?" Lucas got angry. He slammed his fists on the table and turned the other way. He couldn't look at the tape anymore.

"Calm down, you getting angry won't help. Look at the number plate. We can track them down like that" Matthew started thinking more rationally.

Calming down, Lucas' phone started ringing. The lab results were out.

"The blood sample you sent is from a guy named Walter Gibson" the doctor said.

"Okay, thank you very much" he said and hung up.

He searched his name in the database and found out that he was in jail for an assault for fifteen years.

"This is the guy that kidnapped her?" Elijah asked surprised.

"Yeah, you know him?" Lucas asked, raising his eyebrows.

"Her dad worked on his assault case when he was put in jail. He was the one that killed him." he answered.

Lucas inhaled deeply and got even more annoyed and angry at him. He promised himself that he'll find her and make their life hell.

"Let's go" he angrily grabbed his jacket and rushed out of the door, hoping to find them and punch the shit out of them.

The number plate led them to the house Luna was located at. They thought of a plan of breaking the door but then they heard some noise.

They turned their head towards it and saw Luna hissing in pain while holding her ankle standing under a window. They started running towards her but one of the kidnappers caught her. They changed their tactic.
