Lunar Eclipse

Chapter 10

"Do you have any idea where he could've taken her?" Elijah asked after they came back in the office and started inspecting the whiteboard with all of the evidences.

"Well, I saw something in her house while we were interrogating her" Luna said as she tried to recall it.

"What?" both of them turned towards her.

"There were man's shoes there. Maybe he lived with her. But why would he kidnap her and take her to another place?" she wondered out loud.

"He probably wants to kill her and hide the tracks" Elijah said.

"Yeah but he could do that in the house too" she said.

"It would've been too obvious" Elijah sighed, hanging his head down.

As they continue brainstorming, Lucas stayed quiet, leaning on his desk with his arms crossed.

"GUYS!" he shouted all of a sudden, getting up from the table.

Elijah and Luna snap their heads towards him "While Luna and I inspected the house there was a room on the second floor with diaries. I thought they were Lydia's so I didn't touch them. But on second thought, they didn't look like a girl's diary. They looked rough around the edges." he continued, biting his lip.

"Okay, then let's go. What are we waiting for" Elijah said.

They hurried back to her house and started searching for the diaries.

Lucas took the ones he saw and started going through them.

"What's up with this guy? Why is he doing this?" Luna asked, confused.

"Well, some people release their anger on a punching bag, some on human beings." Elijah sighed, going through the drawers in the room to see if there are more diaries lying around.

Lucas finished reading the diaries and found out that the killer has a villa in the mountains. He also found out that he writes down stuff in code words, so it took him a while to figure out where the villa was.

"Guys, I know where they are. Come on." Lucas suddenly said, taking his jacket. 

Elijah and Luna looked at each other, raised their shoulders and followed him out.

As they arrived at their destination they saw that it was a huge house with a big yard.

"Are you sure they aren't just on vacation?" Luna teased Lucas, raising her eyebrow.

"Why would they leave their door open then?" he pointed out, getting out of the car.

"There could've been a robbery" she continued, following him. She thought it would be fun to tick him off, to see how he reacts.

"Did anything look stolen to you there? Was there any evidence of robbery?" he snapped, getting annoyed.

Elijah caught what Luna was trying to do and continued the joke "I mean, maybe the robber could've put back everything. Maybe he had a great memory." 

"How? Explain to me how he could've put back a broken window or a vase? You think he glued it back together and voila, it's like it never happened???" Lucas snarled, steam coming out of his ears and nose.

Elijah and Luna snorted with laughter and slapped him on the shoulder.

"Calm down dude. We're joking. We just wanted to see how you'll react" Elijah said, taking a breath.

Lucas was about to say something when they heard a screaming noise coming from inside the villa.

All three of them snapped their head in that direction. In an instant, they got out their guns. Lucas slowly approached the villa, going towards the noise. Elijah was surprised at how all of them were so calm and collected. Especially Luna. 

When she was twelve years old, her dad was killed right in front of her by a murderer who he put in jail. Luckily, when the murderer tried to kill her, the cops showed up. While the murderer was killing her dad she quickly called one of his colleagues because her dad always reminded her to call one of them if anything happened to him. They didn't know how the murderer came in the house and how he escaped jail but after that, he fled and was never found. Which made Luna even more determined to find him, even if he was dead.

They slowly tried to open the door and saw that it was unlocked.

Lucas signaled Elijah to stay put and keep guard. He turned towards Luna and told her to cover him as he started walking in.

What they witnessed made their intestines twirl inside. It was far worse than murder.
